The Object

Formheld mid-unfold

The Silk Chandelier suspends a sequence of slim metal bars from a single axis — each one free to rotate outward, so the form opens like a fan or closes into a tight linear run. Light runs through every bar as one continuous channel. Integrated LEDs with frosted acrylic diffusers; no visible bulb, no hot spot — just a glowing geometry overhead. Available in four lengths from 49 cm to 200 cm.
Why you'll love it
  • Each bar rotates freely — configure the form to suit the space
  • Continuous LED line through every bar — no visible bulbs
  • Frosted acrylic diffusers — even, glare-free illumination
  • Adjustable colour temperature 2700K–6500K
  • Four lengths, 49 cm to 200 cm — 10 to 40 bars
Details

A standard hardwired ceiling install — most of it is switching off the power and matching three wires. Set your hanging height before you connect anything, and you're most of the way there.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — to a standard ceiling junction box
  • Power — hardwired to your mains supply
  • Dimming — socketed bulbs dim; integrated-LED models don't
  • Drop — arrives at 47" (1.2 m); want it shorter or longer? Just email us before it ships
  • Ceilings — flat, and most sloped (check the product specs)

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver, voltage tester, wire stripper
  • Wire nuts (included), ladder
  • Drill (only for a new junction box or non-standard ceiling)

Step by step

  1. Turn off the power — switch off the lighting circuit at the breaker, then confirm it's dead with a voltage tester.
  2. Mount the bracket — fasten the included bracket to the junction box, snug and level.
  3. Set your height — before wiring, adjust the cord, chain, or downrod to your drop and lock it at the canopy.
  4. Connect the wires — black to black, white to white, green or bare to ground. Secure each with a wire nut and tuck them into the box.
  5. Attach the fixture — line the canopy up with the bracket and fix it flush with the provided screws or caps.
  6. Add the bulbs — correct type and wattage; if dimming, check the bulbs match your wall dimmer.
  7. Power on and test.

Good to know

  • Follow your local electrical codes.
  • For high or angled ceilings, or anything complex, bring in a licensed electrician.
  • Don't over-tighten decorative parts; dust gently with a soft cloth.

On the form

Lighttracing the geometry as it opens

Each bar is an independent arm on a shared central axis. Rotate them outward for a wide, fanning silhouette or pull them inward for a tight linear composition. The acrylic diffuser runs the full length of each bar, so the glow follows the form exactly — one illuminated edge per arm, clean from end to end.

Innovative engineering · intelligent design
Three things that make the Silk Chandelier work.
Shape it

Each bar rotates around the central axis — configure the spread to match the room.

Even glow

Frosted acrylic diffusers run the full bar length, eliminating hot spots entirely.

Set the tone

Adjustable colour temperature from 2700K warm to 6500K cool, dimmable on request.

Design statement

Lightfanned into a form

Most chandeliers arrive complete — fixed in shape, committed to one silhouette. The Silk inverts that logic. Its bars pivot outward from a shared axis so the fixture adapts to the room rather than the other way around. Arranged tight over a kitchen island; fanned wide above a stairwell. The same piece reads differently in every space.

The Silk Chandelier mounts to a standard ceiling junction box with an adjustable cord up to 2 m. We recommend a certified electrician for the hardwired connection.

Yes. Each bar has a frosted acrylic diffuser along its full length, so the light spreads evenly with no visible bulb or hot spot — comfortable to look at from any angle.

Absolutely. The Silk Chandelier pairs well with recessed downlights or wall sconces — use it as the centrepiece and let secondary lighting handle task areas at the edges.
