Installation Guide

No wiring here — just careful measuring, drilling, and mounting. Mortice locks take a bit more patience than a simple knob.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — surface installation on doors, drawers, or cabinetry; check your product's dimensions for placement and drilling points

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver (Phillips and flathead), drill and drill bits, Allen key
  • Tape measure, pencil, level
  • Chisel (for mortice lock installation)
  • Screws and anchors, safety goggles

Step by step

  1. Cabinet hardware — mark drilling points — use a tape measure and pencil; a template helps for uniformity across multiple pieces.
  2. Cabinet hardware — drill holes — use a bit matched to the screw diameter, keeping the drill straight.
  3. Cabinet hardware — mount — insert screws from inside the cabinet or drawer, secure the hardware on the front face, and tighten without overtightening.
  4. Cabinet hardware — align and inspect — confirm straightness and spacing before fully securing.
  5. Thumb lock or dummy handle — confirm orientation — determine left- or right-hand door swing and adjust as needed.
  6. Thumb lock or dummy handle — mark installation height — typically 36–38 inches from the floor to the handle center; align the mounting plate.
  7. Thumb lock or dummy handle — drill and attach — drill pilot holes and secure the backplate and handle with the included screws. Dummy handles install directly, no latch mechanism.
  8. Thumb lock only — install the strike plate — mark the latch location on the door frame, chisel a recess if needed, and screw the strike plate in.
  9. Mortice lock — cut the mortice pocket — use a chisel and drill to create a cavity in the door edge, following the provided measurements.
  10. Mortice lock — insert the lock body — fit it into the cavity and attach through the faceplate with screws.
  11. Mortice lock — install the handle — align the spindle through the lock, attach handles on both sides, and tighten with a screwdriver or Allen key.
  12. Mortice lock — install the cylinder (if applicable) — insert the key cylinder and secure with the cylinder screw from the door edge.
  13. Mortice lock — mount the strike plate — align with the latch mechanism and secure to the door frame.

Good to know

  • Double-check measurements before drilling.
  • Use a level for consistent alignment across multiple units.
  • If you're unfamiliar with mortice installation, consult a locksmith or professional.
  • Make sure all moving parts operate smoothly before final tightening.
  • Dummy handles are decorative or pull-only — they don't engage latches or locks.

A ridge — functional first, decorative second

The Quentar's textured edge is cut into the brass rather than applied after, giving it a defined, tactile ridge that catches the fingers securely. It's a detail that does its job in low light or wet hands just as well as it looks in daylight. The vintage-brass finish is set to age gracefully alongside it.

Innovative engineering. Intelligent design.

Frequently Asked Questions

What material is the Quentar Knob & Pull Bar made from?

Solid brass, finished in a vintage tone that's designed to deepen and develop character with regular handling, rather than staying flat and unchanging like a lacquered finish.

What makes the design unique?

A fine texture is cut along the edge of both the knob and pull bar, giving a functional grip point that also reads as a considered, intentional design detail rather than plain hardware.

Does the knob match the pull bar?

Yes — both pieces share the same rounded profile, textured edge, and vintage-brass finish, so they read as one coordinated family across a kitchen or bathroom.

Is this cabinet hardware suitable for modern interiors?

Yes — while the vintage-brass tone leans warm, the clean rounded forms keep it versatile enough for contemporary kitchens as well as more traditional cabinetry.

Where can this brass hardware be installed?

It works on kitchen cabinets, wardrobes, dressers, and bathroom vanities — the knob suits smaller drawers while the pull bars fit larger cabinet doors and fronts.

Does the textured edge serve a functional purpose?

Yes — beyond the visual detail, the texture adds real traction, which is especially useful in a kitchen where hands are often wet or full.

Is the finish suitable for high-end cabinetry?

Yes — the vintage-brass finish and precise edge detailing are designed to read as considered hardware, suited to cabinetry where the details are meant to be noticed.

What weight options are available?

The knob weighs 61g, with the two pull bar lengths coming in at 113g and 135g respectively — heft that scales with the size of each piece.

Is this hardware durable for daily use?

Yes — solid brass construction is built to withstand years of regular opening and closing, and any surface wear over time simply adds to its patina.

What design style does it complement best?

Its rounded, textured form suits transitional and warm-modern kitchens especially well, bridging between more traditional and cleaner contemporary cabinetry.
