Installation Guide

No wiring here — just careful measuring, drilling, and mounting. Mortice locks take a bit more patience than a simple knob.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — surface installation on doors, drawers, or cabinetry; check your product's dimensions for placement and drilling points

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver (Phillips and flathead), drill and drill bits, Allen key
  • Tape measure, pencil, level
  • Chisel (for mortice lock installation)
  • Screws and anchors, safety goggles

Step by step

  1. Cabinet hardware — mark drilling points — use a tape measure and pencil; a template helps for uniformity across multiple pieces.
  2. Cabinet hardware — drill holes — use a bit matched to the screw diameter, keeping the drill straight.
  3. Cabinet hardware — mount — insert screws from inside the cabinet or drawer, secure the hardware on the front face, and tighten without overtightening.
  4. Cabinet hardware — align and inspect — confirm straightness and spacing before fully securing.
  5. Thumb lock or dummy handle — confirm orientation — determine left- or right-hand door swing and adjust as needed.
  6. Thumb lock or dummy handle — mark installation height — typically 36–38 inches from the floor to the handle center; align the mounting plate.
  7. Thumb lock or dummy handle — drill and attach — drill pilot holes and secure the backplate and handle with the included screws. Dummy handles install directly, no latch mechanism.
  8. Thumb lock only — install the strike plate — mark the latch location on the door frame, chisel a recess if needed, and screw the strike plate in.
  9. Mortice lock — cut the mortice pocket — use a chisel and drill to create a cavity in the door edge, following the provided measurements.
  10. Mortice lock — insert the lock body — fit it into the cavity and attach through the faceplate with screws.
  11. Mortice lock — install the handle — align the spindle through the lock, attach handles on both sides, and tighten with a screwdriver or Allen key.
  12. Mortice lock — install the cylinder (if applicable) — insert the key cylinder and secure with the cylinder screw from the door edge.
  13. Mortice lock — mount the strike plate — align with the latch mechanism and secure to the door frame.

Good to know

  • Double-check measurements before drilling.
  • Use a level for consistent alignment across multiple units.
  • If you're unfamiliar with mortice installation, consult a locksmith or professional.
  • Make sure all moving parts operate smoothly before final tightening.
  • Dummy handles are decorative or pull-only — they don't engage latches or locks.

Knurling — grip, not just decoration

The knurled surface on Pruna isn't purely visual — the fine ridged pattern gives fingers real purchase, especially useful on kitchen cabinetry where hands are often wet or full. Cut from solid brass, the texture also catches light differently than a smooth surface, adding quiet depth across a run of drawers.

Innovative engineering. Intelligent design.

Frequently Asked Questions

What material is the Pruna Cabinet Pull made from?

Pruna is made from solid brass, finely knurled across the surface for texture and grip, with a weight that feels substantial rather than hollow.

What design style does this knob and pull feature?

It has a clean, architectural cylindrical form with a knurled texture — a quiet, refined detail that reads as intentional rather than decorative excess.

Is the knob and drawer pull design coordinated?

Yes — both the knob and pull bar share the same cylindrical form and knurled texture, so they can be mixed across a kitchen for a cohesive hardware scheme.

Where can this knob and drawer pull be installed?

It works well on kitchen cabinetry, wardrobe doors, bathroom vanities, and custom furniture pieces — anywhere consistent, tactile hardware is needed.

Is this hardware suitable for kitchens and bathrooms?

Yes — solid brass construction and a knurled grip make it a practical choice for kitchens and bathrooms, where hands are often wet or full.

What finish is available for this product?

Pruna comes in brass and vintage brass, both of which develop a natural patina over time as the surface responds to daily handling.

Does the knurled design serve a functional purpose?

Yes — beyond its visual texture, the fine ridged knurling gives fingers genuine grip, which is especially useful on cabinetry that gets opened dozens of times a day.

Can the knob and pull be used together on the same cabinetry?

Yes — they're designed as a matched pair, so a kitchen might use knobs on upper cabinets and pull bars on drawers without breaking the visual language.

Does the design suit modern interiors?

Yes — the clean cylindrical form and restrained knurled texture suit contemporary kitchens and bathrooms, while still working comfortably in more traditional spaces.

Is the Pruna Cabinet Pull easy to install?

Installation is straightforward with basic tools and the included hardware, though we recommend professional installation for a precise, even result across multiple cabinets.
