Installation Guide

No wiring here — just careful measuring, drilling, and mounting. Mortice locks take a bit more patience than a simple knob.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — surface installation on doors, drawers, or cabinetry; check your product's dimensions for placement and drilling points

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver (Phillips and flathead), drill and drill bits, Allen key
  • Tape measure, pencil, level
  • Chisel (for mortice lock installation)
  • Screws and anchors, safety goggles

Step by step

  1. Cabinet hardware — mark drilling points — use a tape measure and pencil; a template helps for uniformity across multiple pieces.
  2. Cabinet hardware — drill holes — use a bit matched to the screw diameter, keeping the drill straight.
  3. Cabinet hardware — mount — insert screws from inside the cabinet or drawer, secure the hardware on the front face, and tighten without overtightening.
  4. Cabinet hardware — align and inspect — confirm straightness and spacing before fully securing.
  5. Thumb lock or dummy handle — confirm orientation — determine left- or right-hand door swing and adjust as needed.
  6. Thumb lock or dummy handle — mark installation height — typically 36–38 inches from the floor to the handle center; align the mounting plate.
  7. Thumb lock or dummy handle — drill and attach — drill pilot holes and secure the backplate and handle with the included screws. Dummy handles install directly, no latch mechanism.
  8. Thumb lock only — install the strike plate — mark the latch location on the door frame, chisel a recess if needed, and screw the strike plate in.
  9. Mortice lock — cut the mortice pocket — use a chisel and drill to create a cavity in the door edge, following the provided measurements.
  10. Mortice lock — insert the lock body — fit it into the cavity and attach through the faceplate with screws.
  11. Mortice lock — install the handle — align the spindle through the lock, attach handles on both sides, and tighten with a screwdriver or Allen key.
  12. Mortice lock — install the cylinder (if applicable) — insert the key cylinder and secure with the cylinder screw from the door edge.
  13. Mortice lock — mount the strike plate — align with the latch mechanism and secure to the door frame.

Good to know

  • Double-check measurements before drilling.
  • Use a level for consistent alignment across multiple units.
  • If you're unfamiliar with mortice installation, consult a locksmith or professional.
  • Make sure all moving parts operate smoothly before final tightening.
  • Dummy handles are decorative or pull-only — they don't engage latches or locks.

Turned — not cast, and it shows

Where a cast knob comes out of a mould in one flat piece, the Padul is turned on a lathe, leaving a subtle rhythm of ridges along its length. That process is what gives it a sculptural quality rather than a purely functional one. Solid brass throughout means the piece has real weight in the hand.

Innovative engineering. Intelligent design.

Turned detail

A lathe-turned profile gives the brass a rhythmic, sculptural texture rather than a flat cast surface.

Warm brushed finish

The brushed brass tone stays warm and matte, resisting the glare of a polished finish.

One family, two forms

Knob and pull bar share the same turned language for a cohesive look across a kitchen.

Frequently Asked Questions

What type of hardware is the Padul Knob & Pull Bar?

It's a cabinet hardware set that includes both a knob and matching pull bars in several lengths, letting you mix sizes across drawers and doors while keeping one consistent turned-brass design.

What material is used in this cabinet hardware?

Solid brass throughout, turned rather than cast — a process that gives the surface a subtle ridged texture and real weight compared to lighter, hollow alternatives.

What finish does the Padul Knob & Pull Bar have?

A warm brushed brass finish, kept matte rather than polished so it won't show fingerprints as easily and develops a soft patina with regular handling over time.

Is this hardware comfortable for daily use?

Yes — the ergonomic grip and turned profile are shaped to sit comfortably under the fingers, whether it's opening a drawer several times a day or an occasional cabinet.

Where can this knob and pull bar be installed?

It works on kitchen cabinets, wardrobes, dressers, and bathroom vanities — anywhere standard cabinet hardware is used, with sizes to suit both small drawers and larger doors.

What design style does this hardware suit?

Its turned, sculptural profile leans toward warm modern and transitional interiors, pairing naturally with both painted cabinetry and natural wood surfaces.

Does this hardware have a decorative element?

Yes — the turned ridges along the brass aren't purely functional; they add a rhythmic, sculptural detail that reads as intentional rather than just utilitarian hardware.

Will the finish match other brass hardware?

The brushed brass tone is designed to coordinate with other warm-brass fixtures, though exact tone can vary slightly between manufacturers — we recommend ordering a sample if matching precisely.

What makes this product visually unique?

The turned manufacturing process leaves a distinct rhythmic texture along the brass that cast hardware doesn't have, giving each piece a more handcrafted, sculptural feel.

Is this hardware suitable for cohesive interior styling?

Yes — the knob and pull bars share the same turned-brass language, so you can use them together across a kitchen or bath for a consistent, considered look throughout.
