Installation Guide

No wiring here — just careful measuring, drilling, and mounting. Mortice locks take a bit more patience than a simple knob.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — surface installation on doors, drawers, or cabinetry; check your product's dimensions for placement and drilling points

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver (Phillips and flathead), drill and drill bits, Allen key
  • Tape measure, pencil, level
  • Chisel (for mortice lock installation)
  • Screws and anchors, safety goggles

Step by step

  1. Cabinet hardware — mark drilling points — use a tape measure and pencil; a template helps for uniformity across multiple pieces.
  2. Cabinet hardware — drill holes — use a bit matched to the screw diameter, keeping the drill straight.
  3. Cabinet hardware — mount — insert screws from inside the cabinet or drawer, secure the hardware on the front face, and tighten without overtightening.
  4. Cabinet hardware — align and inspect — confirm straightness and spacing before fully securing.
  5. Thumb lock or dummy handle — confirm orientation — determine left- or right-hand door swing and adjust as needed.
  6. Thumb lock or dummy handle — mark installation height — typically 36–38 inches from the floor to the handle center; align the mounting plate.
  7. Thumb lock or dummy handle — drill and attach — drill pilot holes and secure the backplate and handle with the included screws. Dummy handles install directly, no latch mechanism.
  8. Thumb lock only — install the strike plate — mark the latch location on the door frame, chisel a recess if needed, and screw the strike plate in.
  9. Mortice lock — cut the mortice pocket — use a chisel and drill to create a cavity in the door edge, following the provided measurements.
  10. Mortice lock — insert the lock body — fit it into the cavity and attach through the faceplate with screws.
  11. Mortice lock — install the handle — align the spindle through the lock, attach handles on both sides, and tighten with a screwdriver or Allen key.
  12. Mortice lock — install the cylinder (if applicable) — insert the key cylinder and secure with the cylinder screw from the door edge.
  13. Mortice lock — mount the strike plate — align with the latch mechanism and secure to the door frame.

Good to know

  • Double-check measurements before drilling.
  • Use a level for consistent alignment across multiple units.
  • If you're unfamiliar with mortice installation, consult a locksmith or professional.
  • Make sure all moving parts operate smoothly before final tightening.
  • Dummy handles are decorative or pull-only — they don't engage latches or locks.

An oval — softened, not stretched

The Niguelas takes a simple oval and gives it a gentle curve rather than a hard geometric edge, so it sits naturally against a cabinet front. Solid brass means the small scale doesn't feel flimsy — there's real weight behind the form. Left to age, the finish develops a soft patina, quietly recording the years of handling.

Innovative engineering. Intelligent design.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Niguelas Knob made of?

Solid brass, finished in a vintage brass tone. That combination gives the knob real weight and a warmth that deepens naturally as it's handled over time.

What is the weight of the Niguelas Knob?

75 grams — enough to feel solid and substantial under the fingers, despite the knob's compact, understated scale on a cabinet front.

What type of design does the Niguelas Knob have?

A gently elongated oval, softly curved rather than sharply geometric, designed to sit close to the surface and read as a quiet architectural detail.

What finish does the Niguelas Knob have?

A vintage brass finish, a warm aged tone that continues to develop character with everyday handling rather than staying static over the years.

Is the Niguelas Knob comfortable to use daily?

Yes, its smooth curved surface has no sharp edges, making it comfortable to grip and turn repeatedly through daily cabinet and drawer use.

Where can I use the Niguelas Knob?

Kitchen cabinets, wardrobes, bathroom vanities, and furniture drawers all suit it well, anywhere you want a small, refined detail rather than a large statement piece.

What interior styles does the Niguelas Knob suit best?

Its understated oval form pairs easily with both modern minimalist cabinetry and more traditional, classic interiors, making it a genuinely versatile choice.

Does the brushed finish show fingerprints easily?

The vintage brass finish is designed to age and patina with handling rather than show every fingerprint, so daily use adds character instead of visible smudging.

Will the Niguelas Knob match different cabinet colors?

Yes, the warm vintage brass tone works comfortably against dark woods, painted cabinetry, and lighter natural wood finishes without clashing with any of them.

Why will I love the Niguelas Knob?

It brings a genuinely refined brass detail to everyday cabinetry without overwhelming the space — small, solid, and built to develop real character the longer you live with it.
