Installation Guide

No wiring here — just careful measuring, drilling, and mounting. Mortice locks take a bit more patience than a simple knob.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — surface installation on doors, drawers, or cabinetry; check your product's dimensions for placement and drilling points

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver (Phillips and flathead), drill and drill bits, Allen key
  • Tape measure, pencil, level
  • Chisel (for mortice lock installation)
  • Screws and anchors, safety goggles

Step by step

  1. Cabinet hardware — mark drilling points — use a tape measure and pencil; a template helps for uniformity across multiple pieces.
  2. Cabinet hardware — drill holes — use a bit matched to the screw diameter, keeping the drill straight.
  3. Cabinet hardware — mount — insert screws from inside the cabinet or drawer, secure the hardware on the front face, and tighten without overtightening.
  4. Cabinet hardware — align and inspect — confirm straightness and spacing before fully securing.
  5. Thumb lock or dummy handle — confirm orientation — determine left- or right-hand door swing and adjust as needed.
  6. Thumb lock or dummy handle — mark installation height — typically 36–38 inches from the floor to the handle center; align the mounting plate.
  7. Thumb lock or dummy handle — drill and attach — drill pilot holes and secure the backplate and handle with the included screws. Dummy handles install directly, no latch mechanism.
  8. Thumb lock only — install the strike plate — mark the latch location on the door frame, chisel a recess if needed, and screw the strike plate in.
  9. Mortice lock — cut the mortice pocket — use a chisel and drill to create a cavity in the door edge, following the provided measurements.
  10. Mortice lock — insert the lock body — fit it into the cavity and attach through the faceplate with screws.
  11. Mortice lock — install the handle — align the spindle through the lock, attach handles on both sides, and tighten with a screwdriver or Allen key.
  12. Mortice lock — install the cylinder (if applicable) — insert the key cylinder and secure with the cylinder screw from the door edge.
  13. Mortice lock — mount the strike plate — align with the latch mechanism and secure to the door frame.

Good to know

  • Double-check measurements before drilling.
  • Use a level for consistent alignment across multiple units.
  • If you're unfamiliar with mortice installation, consult a locksmith or professional.
  • Make sure all moving parts operate smoothly before final tightening.
  • Dummy handles are decorative or pull-only — they don't engage latches or locks.

Four arms — softened into one star

The Marmolejo's silhouette comes from four rounded arms intersecting at a central point, a cross-like form softened until it reads as a single cohesive star. Polished chrome catches light differently as those arms curve, giving the piece movement even standing still. Solid brass underneath means it never feels thin or hollow against the hand.

Innovative engineering. Intelligent design.

Frequently Asked Questions

What material is the Marmolejo Knob & Pull Bar made from?

Solid brass, finished in polished chrome. That base metal gives the piece real weight and durability, even at its compact knob scale.

How will the finish change over time?

The polished chrome finish is designed to hold its reflective look with normal use and cleaning, staying consistent rather than developing the patina solid brass finishes typically show.

How is the Marmolejo Knob & Pull Bar manufactured?

It's cast in solid brass and finished with a polished chrome plating, then smoothed across every edge so the rounded arms feel comfortable and consistent to the touch.

What design style does it suit?

Its sculptural star-like form and polished chrome finish suit modern and contemporary interiors especially well, adding a distinctive detail to otherwise minimal cabinetry.

Where can it be installed?

Kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanities, and wardrobes all suit the Marmolejo well, either as a standalone knob on doors or paired with the matching pull on drawers.

What defines its shape?

Four rounded arms extending from a central point and softly intersecting, creating a star-like silhouette that offers visual interest from every viewing angle.

How does the surface interact with light?

The polished chrome finish reflects light across each curved arm, so the piece catches subtle highlights and shifts in tone as you move around it or the room's light changes.

Does it feel substantial in hand?

Yes, solid brass construction gives it genuine heft, more substantial than a hollow or plated alternative, even in its smaller knob size.

What visual impact does it create on cabinetry?

Its star-like silhouette adds a sculptural focal point to an otherwise plain cabinet front, working well as a repeated detail across a full run of drawers.

Is it comfortable for everyday use?

Yes, the rounded, contoured arms mean there's no sharp edge to work around, and the four-arm design gives you a comfortable grip point from nearly any angle.
