Installation Guide

No wiring here — just careful measuring, drilling, and mounting. Mortice locks take a bit more patience than a simple knob.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — surface installation on doors, drawers, or cabinetry; check your product's dimensions for placement and drilling points

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver (Phillips and flathead), drill and drill bits, Allen key
  • Tape measure, pencil, level
  • Chisel (for mortice lock installation)
  • Screws and anchors, safety goggles

Step by step

  1. Cabinet hardware — mark drilling points — use a tape measure and pencil; a template helps for uniformity across multiple pieces.
  2. Cabinet hardware — drill holes — use a bit matched to the screw diameter, keeping the drill straight.
  3. Cabinet hardware — mount — insert screws from inside the cabinet or drawer, secure the hardware on the front face, and tighten without overtightening.
  4. Cabinet hardware — align and inspect — confirm straightness and spacing before fully securing.
  5. Thumb lock or dummy handle — confirm orientation — determine left- or right-hand door swing and adjust as needed.
  6. Thumb lock or dummy handle — mark installation height — typically 36–38 inches from the floor to the handle center; align the mounting plate.
  7. Thumb lock or dummy handle — drill and attach — drill pilot holes and secure the backplate and handle with the included screws. Dummy handles install directly, no latch mechanism.
  8. Thumb lock only — install the strike plate — mark the latch location on the door frame, chisel a recess if needed, and screw the strike plate in.
  9. Mortice lock — cut the mortice pocket — use a chisel and drill to create a cavity in the door edge, following the provided measurements.
  10. Mortice lock — insert the lock body — fit it into the cavity and attach through the faceplate with screws.
  11. Mortice lock — install the handle — align the spindle through the lock, attach handles on both sides, and tighten with a screwdriver or Allen key.
  12. Mortice lock — install the cylinder (if applicable) — insert the key cylinder and secure with the cylinder screw from the door edge.
  13. Mortice lock — mount the strike plate — align with the latch mechanism and secure to the door frame.

Good to know

  • Double-check measurements before drilling.
  • Use a level for consistent alignment across multiple units.
  • If you're unfamiliar with mortice installation, consult a locksmith or professional.
  • Make sure all moving parts operate smoothly before final tightening.
  • Dummy handles are decorative or pull-only — they don't engage latches or locks.

Rounded — for a softer reflection

A flat-faced knob throws light back in one direction; a curved one scatters it. Lopera's gently domed face is shaped for that softer effect, giving it a subtle glow rather than a single hard glint as the light in the room changes through the day.

Innovative engineering. Intelligent design.

Frequently Asked Questions

What material is the Lopera Knob made of?

Solid brass, chosen for its weight in the hand and the way the finish develops warmth and character the longer it's used.

What is the weight of the Lopera Knob?

75g without the backplate and 82g with it — enough heft to feel solid without adding real bulk to a drawer or door front.

What design style does the Lopera Knob have?

A rounded, sculptural style — the gently curved face keeps the silhouette soft and balanced rather than sharply geometric.

What makes the backplate design special?

It gives the knob a bit more visual presence on the door front, useful where a plain round knob might read as too minimal for the scale of the cabinetry.

What finish does the Lopera Knob have?

Three options — brass, vintage brass, or nickel — so it can match warm or cool hardware palettes depending on the room.

Does the Lopera Knob have texture details?

The face is smooth rather than textured, relying on its curved shape rather than surface pattern for visual interest.

Is the Lopera Knob comfortable for daily use?

Yes, the rounded, smooth grip is easy to hold and turn, comfortable for the dozens of times a day a drawer or cabinet gets opened.

Where can I use the Lopera Knob?

Kitchen cabinets, wardrobes, drawers, and bathroom vanities — its compact, versatile form suits most standard cabinetry.

What interior styles does the Lopera Knob suit?

Both modern and classic spaces — the rounded, understated form integrates easily without pulling focus from the rest of the room.

Why will I love the Lopera Knob?

It's a small, refined detail that adds warmth and presence without overwhelming the cabinetry, with the flexibility of a backplate option when you want more.
