Installation Guide

No wiring here — just careful measuring, drilling, and mounting. Mortice locks take a bit more patience than a simple knob.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — surface installation on doors, drawers, or cabinetry; check your product's dimensions for placement and drilling points

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver (Phillips and flathead), drill and drill bits, Allen key
  • Tape measure, pencil, level
  • Chisel (for mortice lock installation)
  • Screws and anchors, safety goggles

Step by step

  1. Cabinet hardware — mark drilling points — use a tape measure and pencil; a template helps for uniformity across multiple pieces.
  2. Cabinet hardware — drill holes — use a bit matched to the screw diameter, keeping the drill straight.
  3. Cabinet hardware — mount — insert screws from inside the cabinet or drawer, secure the hardware on the front face, and tighten without overtightening.
  4. Cabinet hardware — align and inspect — confirm straightness and spacing before fully securing.
  5. Thumb lock or dummy handle — confirm orientation — determine left- or right-hand door swing and adjust as needed.
  6. Thumb lock or dummy handle — mark installation height — typically 36–38 inches from the floor to the handle center; align the mounting plate.
  7. Thumb lock or dummy handle — drill and attach — drill pilot holes and secure the backplate and handle with the included screws. Dummy handles install directly, no latch mechanism.
  8. Thumb lock only — install the strike plate — mark the latch location on the door frame, chisel a recess if needed, and screw the strike plate in.
  9. Mortice lock — cut the mortice pocket — use a chisel and drill to create a cavity in the door edge, following the provided measurements.
  10. Mortice lock — insert the lock body — fit it into the cavity and attach through the faceplate with screws.
  11. Mortice lock — install the handle — align the spindle through the lock, attach handles on both sides, and tighten with a screwdriver or Allen key.
  12. Mortice lock — install the cylinder (if applicable) — insert the key cylinder and secure with the cylinder screw from the door edge.
  13. Mortice lock — mount the strike plate — align with the latch mechanism and secure to the door frame.

Good to know

  • Double-check measurements before drilling.
  • Use a level for consistent alignment across multiple units.
  • If you're unfamiliar with mortice installation, consult a locksmith or professional.
  • Make sure all moving parts operate smoothly before final tightening.
  • Dummy handles are decorative or pull-only — they don't engage latches or locks.

Knob and bar — cut from the same idea

Both pieces share the same rounded-end profile and cylindrical body, so mixing the knob on smaller doors with the pull on drawers still reads as one coherent set. Solid brass carries through every finish, from a warm classic brass to a cooler chrome. Rounded ends soften what could otherwise be a hard, mechanical bar shape.

Innovative engineering. Intelligent design.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Lepe Knob & Pull Bar made of?

Both the knob and pull bar are made from solid brass, giving the set consistent weight and a finish that develops character with regular handling.

What type of design does this hardware feature?

It uses a shared rounded-end, cylindrical profile across both the knob and the pull bar, so the two pieces read as one coordinated hardware family.

Where can this knob and pull bar be installed?

Use the pull bars on drawers and larger cabinet doors, and the knob on smaller doors or accents — together they suit kitchens, wardrobes, dressers, and vanities.

Is this hardware suitable for modern interiors?

Yes — the clean cylindrical shape and rounded ends work well in modern and transitional kitchens where a matched hardware set is wanted throughout.

Can it be used in classic or traditional spaces?

Yes — solid brass in a warm finish suits classic cabinetry just as naturally as modern, since the rounded, understated shape doesn't read as strictly contemporary.

Does the knob and pull bar come in multiple colors?

Yes — six finishes are available, from classic brass and gold to chrome, white, pink, and green, so the set can match or contrast with existing cabinetry.

What makes the design visually distinctive?

The matching rounded-end profile shared between the knob and pull bar is what sets it apart — most hardware collections don't carry the same exact silhouette across both shapes.

Is the surface finish smooth?

Yes — both the knob and pull bar have a smooth grip surface, comfortable to hold whether you're using a full-hand grip on the bar or a pinch grip on the knob.

Does the Lepe Knob & Pull Bar develop a patina over time?

Yes — being solid brass, the finish will subtly shift with years of handling, particularly in the finishes left less heavily lacquered, like classic brass.

What type of cabinetry does it pair best with?

It works especially well across a full kitchen or wardrobe run, where using the pull on drawers and the matching knob on doors keeps the hardware visually unified.
