The Object

Brasstapered to a steady grip

The Jamilena tapers a solid brass form from smooth mounting ends into a gently textured centre, so the hand finds traction exactly where it needs to. Knob and pull share the same silhouette, letting a whole run of cabinets read as one considered piece rather than mismatched hardware.
Why you'll love it
  • Solid brass knob and pull, matched design
  • Textured centre grip for secure hold
  • Elongated tapered silhouette
  • Two finish options: gold, chrome
  • Suits kitchens, wardrobes, and vanities
Details

No wiring here — just careful measuring, drilling, and mounting. Mortice locks take a bit more patience than a simple knob.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — surface installation on doors, drawers, or cabinetry; check your product's dimensions for placement and drilling points

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver (Phillips and flathead), drill and drill bits, Allen key
  • Tape measure, pencil, level
  • Chisel (for mortice lock installation)
  • Screws and anchors, safety goggles

Step by step

  1. Cabinet hardware — mark drilling points — use a tape measure and pencil; a template helps for uniformity across multiple pieces.
  2. Cabinet hardware — drill holes — use a bit matched to the screw diameter, keeping the drill straight.
  3. Cabinet hardware — mount — insert screws from inside the cabinet or drawer, secure the hardware on the front face, and tighten without overtightening.
  4. Cabinet hardware — align and inspect — confirm straightness and spacing before fully securing.
  5. Thumb lock or dummy handle — confirm orientation — determine left- or right-hand door swing and adjust as needed.
  6. Thumb lock or dummy handle — mark installation height — typically 36–38 inches from the floor to the handle center; align the mounting plate.
  7. Thumb lock or dummy handle — drill and attach — drill pilot holes and secure the backplate and handle with the included screws. Dummy handles install directly, no latch mechanism.
  8. Thumb lock only — install the strike plate — mark the latch location on the door frame, chisel a recess if needed, and screw the strike plate in.
  9. Mortice lock — cut the mortice pocket — use a chisel and drill to create a cavity in the door edge, following the provided measurements.
  10. Mortice lock — insert the lock body — fit it into the cavity and attach through the faceplate with screws.
  11. Mortice lock — install the handle — align the spindle through the lock, attach handles on both sides, and tighten with a screwdriver or Allen key.
  12. Mortice lock — install the cylinder (if applicable) — insert the key cylinder and secure with the cylinder screw from the door edge.
  13. Mortice lock — mount the strike plate — align with the latch mechanism and secure to the door frame.

Good to know

  • Double-check measurements before drilling.
  • Use a level for consistent alignment across multiple units.
  • If you're unfamiliar with mortice installation, consult a locksmith or professional.
  • Make sure all moving parts operate smoothly before final tightening.
  • Dummy handles are decorative or pull-only — they don't engage latches or locks.

On the grip

Faceted centrewhere the hand lands

A faceted texture runs through the middle third of the pull, giving fingers something to catch onto that the smooth mounting ends don't offer. That contrast is functional as much as visual — grip where you need it, clean lines everywhere else. The knob repeats the same logic at a smaller scale.

Frequently asked

Solid brass throughout, in both the knob and pull bar versions, giving each piece a substantial, lasting weight in the hand.

A refined, architectural silhouette — an elongated tapered form that reads as quietly sculptural rather than purely functional.

Kitchen cabinets, wardrobes, bathroom vanities, and furniture drawers all suit its versatile tapered design.

Yes, both share the same tapered silhouette and faceted centre texture, so a full cabinet run reads as one cohesive design.

An elongated, gently tapered bar with a textured centre section flanked by smooth mounting ends on either side.

The faceted centre texture gives fingers a secure place to grip, especially useful on frequently used drawers and cabinet doors.

Its balanced, understated form suits both contemporary kitchens and more traditional millwork without feeling out of place in either.

Two finishes: a warm gold and a cooler chrome, so you can match existing fixtures or fittings in the room.

The knob and pull bar share the same design language and are intended to be used together across a cabinet run.

Its tapered, sculptural profile and faceted centre texture set it apart from flat, purely utilitarian cabinet hardware.
