Acrylic coil—wound around the LED core

The frame is iron and aluminium; the diffuser is acrylic formed into a spiral. Both materials are chosen for durability and the way the acrylic coil distributes the LED light evenly along its length.

Yes — 8W integrated LED produces 880 lm of ambient output. It draws significantly less power than an equivalent incandescent and the LED is rated for decades of use.
Dust the acrylic spiral with a soft, dry cloth. Wipe the metal frame with a slightly damp cloth — avoid abrasive cleaners on the gold or black finish. Ensure the lamp is switched off before cleaning.
