Installation Guide

No wiring here — just careful measuring, drilling, and mounting. Mortice locks take a bit more patience than a simple knob.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — surface installation on doors, drawers, or cabinetry; check your product's dimensions for placement and drilling points

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver (Phillips and flathead), drill and drill bits, Allen key
  • Tape measure, pencil, level
  • Chisel (for mortice lock installation)
  • Screws and anchors, safety goggles

Step by step

  1. Cabinet hardware — mark drilling points — use a tape measure and pencil; a template helps for uniformity across multiple pieces.
  2. Cabinet hardware — drill holes — use a bit matched to the screw diameter, keeping the drill straight.
  3. Cabinet hardware — mount — insert screws from inside the cabinet or drawer, secure the hardware on the front face, and tighten without overtightening.
  4. Cabinet hardware — align and inspect — confirm straightness and spacing before fully securing.
  5. Thumb lock or dummy handle — confirm orientation — determine left- or right-hand door swing and adjust as needed.
  6. Thumb lock or dummy handle — mark installation height — typically 36–38 inches from the floor to the handle center; align the mounting plate.
  7. Thumb lock or dummy handle — drill and attach — drill pilot holes and secure the backplate and handle with the included screws. Dummy handles install directly, no latch mechanism.
  8. Thumb lock only — install the strike plate — mark the latch location on the door frame, chisel a recess if needed, and screw the strike plate in.
  9. Mortice lock — cut the mortice pocket — use a chisel and drill to create a cavity in the door edge, following the provided measurements.
  10. Mortice lock — insert the lock body — fit it into the cavity and attach through the faceplate with screws.
  11. Mortice lock — install the handle — align the spindle through the lock, attach handles on both sides, and tighten with a screwdriver or Allen key.
  12. Mortice lock — install the cylinder (if applicable) — insert the key cylinder and secure with the cylinder screw from the door edge.
  13. Mortice lock — mount the strike plate — align with the latch mechanism and secure to the door frame.

Good to know

  • Double-check measurements before drilling.
  • Use a level for consistent alignment across multiple units.
  • If you're unfamiliar with mortice installation, consult a locksmith or professional.
  • Make sure all moving parts operate smoothly before final tightening.
  • Dummy handles are decorative or pull-only — they don't engage latches or locks.

A bar — kept clean, kept simple

The Hinojales resists decoration in favour of proportion — a straight run of brass with just enough curve at the ends to soften the grip. That restraint is what lets it sit equally well on a painted cabinet or a natural wood front. Over time, the brass along the centre where it's gripped most will darken slightly ahead of the rest.

Innovative engineering. Intelligent design.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Hinojales Cabinet Pull?

A solid brass drawer and cabinet pull with a clean, elongated bar silhouette and softened corners, designed to add quiet architectural structure without competing for attention.

What material is it made from?

Solid brass, finished in a warm brass tone. The material gives the pull genuine weight and durability well beyond typical plated hardware.

What makes the design unique?

Its restraint — a clean, elongated bar with just enough curve at the corners to feel comfortable in the hand, without decorative flourishes competing for attention.

What finish does it have?

A natural brass finish that will develop a gentle patina over time, deepening in tone especially where it's gripped most often.

Where can this pull bar be installed?

Kitchen cabinets, wardrobes, bathroom vanities, and furniture drawers — its clean form suits nearly any cabinetry surface, light or dark.

Which spaces is it best suited for?

Kitchens and bathrooms benefit most from its smooth, easy-grip form, though it works equally well on wardrobe doors and furniture drawers throughout the home.

Is it comfortable for daily use?

Yes — the softened corners and smooth surface are specifically designed for a comfortable, satisfying grip, even with repeated daily use.

Does it suit modern interiors?

Yes — its clean, unornamented line reads as contemporary, though the warm brass tone also grounds it in more classic or transitional interiors.

Will it look bulky on cabinetry?

No — the slim profile and two available lengths (10.3 cm and 13.5 cm) keep it proportionate to standard drawer and door widths rather than overwhelming them.

Why choose brass hardware like this?

Solid brass resists wear far better than plated alternatives and develops character with age instead of degrading — a detail that improves the longer you live with it.
