Installation Guide

No wiring here — just careful measuring, drilling, and mounting. Mortice locks take a bit more patience than a simple knob.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — surface installation on doors, drawers, or cabinetry; check your product's dimensions for placement and drilling points

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver (Phillips and flathead), drill and drill bits, Allen key
  • Tape measure, pencil, level
  • Chisel (for mortice lock installation)
  • Screws and anchors, safety goggles

Step by step

  1. Cabinet hardware — mark drilling points — use a tape measure and pencil; a template helps for uniformity across multiple pieces.
  2. Cabinet hardware — drill holes — use a bit matched to the screw diameter, keeping the drill straight.
  3. Cabinet hardware — mount — insert screws from inside the cabinet or drawer, secure the hardware on the front face, and tighten without overtightening.
  4. Cabinet hardware — align and inspect — confirm straightness and spacing before fully securing.
  5. Thumb lock or dummy handle — confirm orientation — determine left- or right-hand door swing and adjust as needed.
  6. Thumb lock or dummy handle — mark installation height — typically 36–38 inches from the floor to the handle center; align the mounting plate.
  7. Thumb lock or dummy handle — drill and attach — drill pilot holes and secure the backplate and handle with the included screws. Dummy handles install directly, no latch mechanism.
  8. Thumb lock only — install the strike plate — mark the latch location on the door frame, chisel a recess if needed, and screw the strike plate in.
  9. Mortice lock — cut the mortice pocket — use a chisel and drill to create a cavity in the door edge, following the provided measurements.
  10. Mortice lock — insert the lock body — fit it into the cavity and attach through the faceplate with screws.
  11. Mortice lock — install the handle — align the spindle through the lock, attach handles on both sides, and tighten with a screwdriver or Allen key.
  12. Mortice lock — install the cylinder (if applicable) — insert the key cylinder and secure with the cylinder screw from the door edge.
  13. Mortice lock — mount the strike plate — align with the latch mechanism and secure to the door frame.

Good to know

  • Double-check measurements before drilling.
  • Use a level for consistent alignment across multiple units.
  • If you're unfamiliar with mortice installation, consult a locksmith or professional.
  • Make sure all moving parts operate smoothly before final tightening.
  • Dummy handles are decorative or pull-only — they don't engage latches or locks.

Cut surfaces — light moving, not standing still

Rather than a smooth cylinder, the Ferreira's surface is broken into small flat facets, each one catching light at a slightly different angle. That texture is what gives the piece its quiet depth — it never reads as a flat, uniform shape. Solid brass underneath means the finish only deepens with handling over the years.

Innovative engineering. Intelligent design.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Ferreira Cabinet Pull made of?

Solid brass throughout, giving it real weight and durability. Over time the brass develops a natural patina, a warm evolving finish that many prefer to a flat, unchanging surface.

What design style does this hardware suit best?

Its clean cylindrical form and faceted texture bridge both modern and classic interiors, making it a flexible choice whether your cabinetry leans minimal or more traditional.

What makes the surface finish unique?

A softly faceted texture breaks up the surface into small flat planes, each catching light differently. It adds tactile depth that a smooth, plain knob doesn't have.

Where can this hardware be installed?

Kitchen cabinets, wardrobes, bathroom vanities, and custom furniture all suit the Ferreira well. It works equally as a standalone knob or paired with the matching pull.

Is this hardware suitable for kitchens and bathrooms?

Yes, solid brass handles moisture and everyday handling well in both spaces, and the finish is built to age gracefully rather than degrade with regular use.

Can it be used in commercial interiors?

Yes, its durable solid-brass construction and understated architectural form suit commercial settings like boutique retail or hospitality cabinetry as readily as residential kitchens.

What shape defines the design of this hardware?

A clean cylindrical silhouette forms the base, with the faceted surface treatment layered on top to add texture without disrupting the overall simple, architectural shape.

How does the brass finish affect the look of furniture?

It adds warmth and a sense of quality to cabinetry, and as the brass patinas with handling, it lends the piece a lived-in character that develops uniquely over time.

Is this hardware purely decorative or functional?

Both — the ergonomic grip makes it genuinely comfortable to pull or turn daily, while the faceted brass surface gives it a refined decorative presence on the cabinet front.

Why is this hardware ideal for modern cabinetry?

Its architectural cylindrical form keeps the look clean and understated, while the faceted texture adds just enough detail to feel considered rather than plain or generic.
