Installation Guide

A standard hardwired ceiling install — most of it is switching off the power and matching three wires. Set your hanging height before you connect anything, and you're most of the way there.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — to a standard ceiling junction box
  • Power — hardwired to your mains supply
  • Dimming — socketed bulbs dim; integrated-LED models don't
  • Drop — arrives at 47" (1.2 m); want it shorter or longer? Just email us before it ships
  • Ceilings — flat, and most sloped (check the product specs)

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver, voltage tester, wire stripper
  • Wire nuts (included), ladder
  • Drill (only for a new junction box or non-standard ceiling)

Step by step

  1. Turn off the power — switch off the lighting circuit at the breaker, then confirm it's dead with a voltage tester.
  2. Mount the bracket — fasten the included bracket to the junction box, snug and level.
  3. Set your height — before wiring, adjust the cord, chain, or downrod to your drop and lock it at the canopy.
  4. Connect the wires — black to black, white to white, green or bare to ground. Secure each with a wire nut and tuck them into the box.
  5. Attach the fixture — line the canopy up with the bracket and fix it flush with the provided screws or caps.
  6. Add the bulbs — correct type and wattage; if dimming, check the bulbs match your wall dimmer.
  7. Power on and test.

  • Follow your local electrical codes.
  • For high or angled ceilings, or anything complex, bring in a licensed electrician.
  • Don't over-tighten decorative parts; dust gently with a soft cloth.

What is the shipping timeframe?

The Egge ships free worldwide. Delivery typically takes 15–21 business days depending on your location. Tracking details are sent as soon as the order dispatches.

How easy is the installation process?

The Egge is hardwired via a pipe-erected ceiling mount — a certified electrician is recommended for the wiring connection. The included mounting hardware is standard, and the installation is otherwise straightforward.

Is the fixture temperature and fade-resistant?

Yes. The red glass is formulated to hold its colour under sustained heat from the bulb. It will not fade, yellow, or change in tone over time, even with daily use.

Does it resist corrosion and rust?

Yes. The iron frame is treated to resist rust and surface corrosion. It is suitable for dry indoor environments including bathrooms when the IP rating is confirmed with us.

What type of ambiance does it create?

The red glass gives the light a warm, intimate quality — suited to dining rooms, hallways, nightstands, or any space where a vivid, cosy atmosphere is preferred over neutral white light.

Can it be mounted on any ceiling or surface?

The Egge mounts to a standard ceiling junction box via its pipe-erected fixture. Sloped-ceiling compatibility is available on request — specify at checkout and we include the right hardware.

Is it suitable for hallways and dining rooms?

Yes — the Egge works well wherever a single pendant with character is needed. Its vivid colour makes it particularly effective over a dining table, in a hallway, or above a bedside.

How long do the LEDs last?

The included E27 LED is rated at 50,000 hours. At 6 hours of daily use, that is more than 22 years before the bulb needs replacing. Replacements are standard E27 — available anywhere.

What voltage is required for operation?

90–260V, covering North American, European, Australian, and Asian electrical systems. No adapter or converter is needed in any of these regions.

Does it come with all necessary mounting hardware?

Yes — the Egge includes its pipe bracket, canopy, and fasteners. Professional installation by a certified electrician is recommended to complete the hardwired connection safely.
