Setup Instructions

Step 1: Cut the Power

Go to your home's circuit breaker or fuse box and turn off the breaker controlling the switch you will be replacing. Confirm the power is off before proceeding.

Step 2: Remove the Existing Wall Plate

Using a screwdriver, take out the screws holding the current cover plate. Lift the plate away and set it aside.

Step 3: Detach the Old Switch

Unscrew the old switch from the electrical box and gently pull it forward to expose the connected wires.

Step 4: Disconnect the Wiring

Release the wires from the old switch. If the wires are wrapped around terminal screws, loosen the screws. If the wires are pushed into rear terminals, clip and re-strip the ends with a wire stripper as needed.

Step 5: Wire the New Toggle Switch

Connect the wires to the new switch:

  • Black (hot) wire to the brass or dark-colored terminal screw
  • White (neutral) wire to the silver terminal screw (if your switch requires it)
  • Green or bare copper wire to the green grounding screw

Tighten every connection firmly.

Step 6: Seat the New Switch

Fold the wires back into the electrical box. Position the toggle switch and fasten it to the box with the included screws.

Step 7: Attach the Brass Cover Plate

Place the brass plate over the switch and secure it with the provided screws.

Step 8: Restore the Power

Return to the electrical panel and flip the breaker back on.

Step 9: Test the Switch

Toggle the switch up and down. The connected light or device should respond immediately and smoothly.
