Installation Guide

No wiring here — just careful measuring, drilling, and mounting. Mortice locks take a bit more patience than a simple knob.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — surface installation on doors, drawers, or cabinetry; check your product's dimensions for placement and drilling points

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver (Phillips and flathead), drill and drill bits, Allen key
  • Tape measure, pencil, level
  • Chisel (for mortice lock installation)
  • Screws and anchors, safety goggles

Step by step

  1. Cabinet hardware — mark drilling points — use a tape measure and pencil; a template helps for uniformity across multiple pieces.
  2. Cabinet hardware — drill holes — use a bit matched to the screw diameter, keeping the drill straight.
  3. Cabinet hardware — mount — insert screws from inside the cabinet or drawer, secure the hardware on the front face, and tighten without overtightening.
  4. Cabinet hardware — align and inspect — confirm straightness and spacing before fully securing.
  5. Thumb lock or dummy handle — confirm orientation — determine left- or right-hand door swing and adjust as needed.
  6. Thumb lock or dummy handle — mark installation height — typically 36–38 inches from the floor to the handle center; align the mounting plate.
  7. Thumb lock or dummy handle — drill and attach — drill pilot holes and secure the backplate and handle with the included screws. Dummy handles install directly, no latch mechanism.
  8. Thumb lock only — install the strike plate — mark the latch location on the door frame, chisel a recess if needed, and screw the strike plate in.
  9. Mortice lock — cut the mortice pocket — use a chisel and drill to create a cavity in the door edge, following the provided measurements.
  10. Mortice lock — insert the lock body — fit it into the cavity and attach through the faceplate with screws.
  11. Mortice lock — install the handle — align the spindle through the lock, attach handles on both sides, and tighten with a screwdriver or Allen key.
  12. Mortice lock — install the cylinder (if applicable) — insert the key cylinder and secure with the cylinder screw from the door edge.
  13. Mortice lock — mount the strike plate — align with the latch mechanism and secure to the door frame.

Good to know

  • Double-check measurements before drilling.
  • Use a level for consistent alignment across multiple units.
  • If you're unfamiliar with mortice installation, consult a locksmith or professional.
  • Make sure all moving parts operate smoothly before final tightening.
  • Dummy handles are decorative or pull-only — they don't engage latches or locks.

Walnut — set against smooth brass

The sphere at the centre of each Dolar pull is turned from solid walnut, its grain reading warm against the cooler brass bar. The contrast isn't just visual — the wood softens the grip, giving the hardware a different feel at the point where fingers actually land.

Innovative engineering. Intelligent design.

Frequently Asked Questions

What materials are used in the Dolar Cabinet Pull?

It's built from solid brass paired with a natural walnut sphere. The brass forms the bar and structure, while the walnut adds a warm, tactile point of contrast at the centre.

What components are included in this hardware collection?

The collection includes cabinet knobs in three sizes, a T-knob, and pull bars in five lengths, so you can mix sizes across a full kitchen or wardrobe run for a cohesive look.

What is unique about the pull bar design?

The pull bar keeps a clean brass line but interrupts it with a rounded walnut sphere, giving what would otherwise be a plain bar a distinctive sculptural focal point.

How is the knob designed?

The knob centres on the same walnut sphere used across the collection, set on a brass base, so knobs and pulls read as one cohesive hardware family across a room.

Where can this knob and pull bar be installed?

It suits kitchen cabinets, wardrobes, bathroom vanities, and custom furniture — anywhere you'd install standard drawer or door hardware.

What finish or color does this product come in?

The brass comes in a warm polished tone, paired with a natural walnut finish on the sphere detail — the two are sold together as a matched set, not separately.

Does the design suit modern interiors?

Yes — its clean lines and minimal silhouette suit modern and contemporary cabinetry, while the walnut warms it enough to also work in more traditional spaces.

What kind of aesthetic does this hardware offer?

It reads as quietly sculptural rather than purely functional — a considered detail that adds visual rhythm to a run of drawers or doors without overwhelming the cabinetry.

Is the walnut wood used as a decorative element?

It's both decorative and functional — the rounded sphere is the primary grip point, so the wood you see is also the wood your hand actually holds.

What design qualities define the Dolar Cabinet Pull?

A balance of structure and warmth: precise brass lines grounded by a soft, rounded wood detail, giving the hardware a distinctive presence without competing with the cabinetry around it.
