Installation Guide

No wiring here — just careful measuring, drilling, and mounting. Mortice locks take a bit more patience than a simple knob.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — surface installation on doors, drawers, or cabinetry; check your product's dimensions for placement and drilling points

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver (Phillips and flathead), drill and drill bits, Allen key
  • Tape measure, pencil, level
  • Chisel (for mortice lock installation)
  • Screws and anchors, safety goggles

Step by step

  1. Cabinet hardware — mark drilling points — use a tape measure and pencil; a template helps for uniformity across multiple pieces.
  2. Cabinet hardware — drill holes — use a bit matched to the screw diameter, keeping the drill straight.
  3. Cabinet hardware — mount — insert screws from inside the cabinet or drawer, secure the hardware on the front face, and tighten without overtightening.
  4. Cabinet hardware — align and inspect — confirm straightness and spacing before fully securing.
  5. Thumb lock or dummy handle — confirm orientation — determine left- or right-hand door swing and adjust as needed.
  6. Thumb lock or dummy handle — mark installation height — typically 36–38 inches from the floor to the handle center; align the mounting plate.
  7. Thumb lock or dummy handle — drill and attach — drill pilot holes and secure the backplate and handle with the included screws. Dummy handles install directly, no latch mechanism.
  8. Thumb lock only — install the strike plate — mark the latch location on the door frame, chisel a recess if needed, and screw the strike plate in.
  9. Mortice lock — cut the mortice pocket — use a chisel and drill to create a cavity in the door edge, following the provided measurements.
  10. Mortice lock — insert the lock body — fit it into the cavity and attach through the faceplate with screws.
  11. Mortice lock — install the handle — align the spindle through the lock, attach handles on both sides, and tighten with a screwdriver or Allen key.
  12. Mortice lock — install the cylinder (if applicable) — insert the key cylinder and secure with the cylinder screw from the door edge.
  13. Mortice lock — mount the strike plate — align with the latch mechanism and secure to the door frame.

Good to know

  • Double-check measurements before drilling.
  • Use a level for consistent alignment across multiple units.
  • If you're unfamiliar with mortice installation, consult a locksmith or professional.
  • Make sure all moving parts operate smoothly before final tightening.
  • Dummy handles are decorative or pull-only — they don't engage latches or locks.

Brushed brass — matte, not mirror

A brushed finish takes the shine off raw brass, leaving a soft, matte warmth instead of a mirror surface. On the Cortes, that finish runs consistently across every size — from the compact knob to the longest 38.7cm pull — so a full kitchen fitted with mixed sizes still reads as one coherent hardware choice. Simple, but not plain.

Innovative engineering. Intelligent design.

Solid brass throughout, finished with a warm brushed tone that reads as matte rather than shiny or overly polished on any cabinet front.

What type of finish does this cabinet hardware have?

A brushed brass finish — the surface is worked to a soft, matte warmth instead of a mirror shine, so it stays quiet on the cabinetry.

What is the design style of the Cortes Knob & Pull Bar?

A timeless cylindrical form with restrained, subtle detailing that suits most kitchen styles, from classic shaker fronts to plain modern slab doors.

Is the Cortes hardware comfortable to use daily?

Yes — its smooth profile and balanced weight make it comfortable for repeated everyday use, without sharp edges or an awkward grip angle.

Where can this knob and pull bar be installed?

Cabinets, drawers, and wardrobes throughout the kitchen, bathroom, or bedroom — the six pull lengths mean one design fits nearly any door width.

Is this suitable for modern interiors?

Yes — its simple cylindrical form and brushed finish work well in modern and transitional kitchens, without competing with more decorative cabinetry.

Does the brushed finish require special care?

No — routine wiping keeps it looking clean, and the brushed surface is built to hold its warm tone through years of daily handling.

Is the Cortes Knob & Pull Bar durable?

Yes — solid brass construction is built to withstand years of daily opening and closing without loosening, cracking, or losing its finish.

Can this hardware be used in kitchens and bathrooms?

What makes this product visually appealing?

Its simplicity — a clean cylindrical form and warm brushed brass finish that never feels dated, whatever the surrounding cabinetry style.
