Installation Guide

No wiring here — just careful measuring, drilling, and mounting. Mortice locks take a bit more patience than a simple knob.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — surface installation on doors, drawers, or cabinetry; check your product's dimensions for placement and drilling points

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver (Phillips and flathead), drill and drill bits, Allen key
  • Tape measure, pencil, level
  • Chisel (for mortice lock installation)
  • Screws and anchors, safety goggles

Step by step

  1. Cabinet hardware — mark drilling points — use a tape measure and pencil; a template helps for uniformity across multiple pieces.
  2. Cabinet hardware — drill holes — use a bit matched to the screw diameter, keeping the drill straight.
  3. Cabinet hardware — mount — insert screws from inside the cabinet or drawer, secure the hardware on the front face, and tighten without overtightening.
  4. Cabinet hardware — align and inspect — confirm straightness and spacing before fully securing.
  5. Thumb lock or dummy handle — confirm orientation — determine left- or right-hand door swing and adjust as needed.
  6. Thumb lock or dummy handle — mark installation height — typically 36–38 inches from the floor to the handle center; align the mounting plate.
  7. Thumb lock or dummy handle — drill and attach — drill pilot holes and secure the backplate and handle with the included screws. Dummy handles install directly, no latch mechanism.
  8. Thumb lock only — install the strike plate — mark the latch location on the door frame, chisel a recess if needed, and screw the strike plate in.
  9. Mortice lock — cut the mortice pocket — use a chisel and drill to create a cavity in the door edge, following the provided measurements.
  10. Mortice lock — insert the lock body — fit it into the cavity and attach through the faceplate with screws.
  11. Mortice lock — install the handle — align the spindle through the lock, attach handles on both sides, and tighten with a screwdriver or Allen key.
  12. Mortice lock — install the cylinder (if applicable) — insert the key cylinder and secure with the cylinder screw from the door edge.
  13. Mortice lock — mount the strike plate — align with the latch mechanism and secure to the door frame.

Good to know

  • Double-check measurements before drilling.
  • Use a level for consistent alignment across multiple units.
  • If you're unfamiliar with mortice installation, consult a locksmith or professional.
  • Make sure all moving parts operate smoothly before final tightening.
  • Dummy handles are decorative or pull-only — they don't engage latches or locks.

Symmetrical — a circle in the middle

The pull's straight bars extend evenly from a solid circular center, giving the whole form a quiet, balanced geometry. Zinc alloy construction keeps the surface smooth and substantial under the hand. Installed across paired cabinet doors, the repeated circles read as a deliberate rhythm rather than incidental hardware.

Innovative engineering. Intelligent design.

Frequently Asked Questions

What material is the Castro Cabinet Pull made from?

Solid zinc alloy, finished in gold or chrome — a durable metal base that gives the pull real weight without becoming difficult to install.

Where can the Castro Cabinet Pull be installed?

Kitchen cabinets, wardrobes, and custom furniture pieces all suit it, particularly where a repeated geometric detail across several doors adds visual rhythm.

How is the Castro Cabinet Pull manufactured?

It's cast from solid zinc alloy and finished to a smooth, refined surface, with the circular center and linear bars formed as one continuous piece.

What design features make the Castro Cabinet Pull unique?

Its circular center, which softens the straight bar extensions into a symmetrical, sculptural form rather than a plain, uninterrupted straight pull.

Is the grip comfortable for daily use?

Yes — the open circular center provides a balanced, comfortable handhold that works naturally for pulling a drawer or cabinet door open.

Does the Castro Cabinet Pull have a strong visual presence?

Yes — the geometric silhouette reads as a quiet focal point rather than simply blending into the cabinetry, especially when repeated across multiple doors.

Is the Castro Cabinet Pull suitable for contemporary interiors?

Yes — its clean geometry and refined finish suit modern kitchens and cabinetry especially well, and it pairs easily with minimal or architectural interiors.

Does the zinc alloy construction add durability?

Yes — solid zinc alloy holds up well to daily use and resists the wear and loosening that can affect lighter, hollow hardware over time.

What effect does the Castro Cabinet Pull have on cabinetry?

It adds an architectural, design-forward character to a room, especially noticeable when the same circular form repeats across a run of paired doors.

Can the Castro Cabinet Pull be used across different furniture pieces?

Yes — it works equally well on kitchen cabinets, wardrobes, and standalone furniture, giving a consistent hardware language throughout a home.
