Installation Guide

No wiring here — just careful measuring, drilling, and mounting. Mortice locks take a bit more patience than a simple knob.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — surface installation on doors, drawers, or cabinetry; check your product's dimensions for placement and drilling points

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver (Phillips and flathead), drill and drill bits, Allen key
  • Tape measure, pencil, level
  • Chisel (for mortice lock installation)
  • Screws and anchors, safety goggles

Step by step

  1. Cabinet hardware — mark drilling points — use a tape measure and pencil; a template helps for uniformity across multiple pieces.
  2. Cabinet hardware — drill holes — use a bit matched to the screw diameter, keeping the drill straight.
  3. Cabinet hardware — mount — insert screws from inside the cabinet or drawer, secure the hardware on the front face, and tighten without overtightening.
  4. Cabinet hardware — align and inspect — confirm straightness and spacing before fully securing.
  5. Thumb lock or dummy handle — confirm orientation — determine left- or right-hand door swing and adjust as needed.
  6. Thumb lock or dummy handle — mark installation height — typically 36–38 inches from the floor to the handle center; align the mounting plate.
  7. Thumb lock or dummy handle — drill and attach — drill pilot holes and secure the backplate and handle with the included screws. Dummy handles install directly, no latch mechanism.
  8. Thumb lock only — install the strike plate — mark the latch location on the door frame, chisel a recess if needed, and screw the strike plate in.
  9. Mortice lock — cut the mortice pocket — use a chisel and drill to create a cavity in the door edge, following the provided measurements.
  10. Mortice lock — insert the lock body — fit it into the cavity and attach through the faceplate with screws.
  11. Mortice lock — install the handle — align the spindle through the lock, attach handles on both sides, and tighten with a screwdriver or Allen key.
  12. Mortice lock — install the cylinder (if applicable) — insert the key cylinder and secure with the cylinder screw from the door edge.
  13. Mortice lock — mount the strike plate — align with the latch mechanism and secure to the door frame.

Good to know

  • Double-check measurements before drilling.
  • Use a level for consistent alignment across multiple units.
  • If you're unfamiliar with mortice installation, consult a locksmith or professional.
  • Make sure all moving parts operate smoothly before final tightening.
  • Dummy handles are decorative or pull-only — they don't engage latches or locks.

Turned by hand — a tailored profile

Both the knob and the bar in the Benadalid set are turned along their length, a technique that leaves subtle ridges rather than a flat, uniform surface. That detailing is what ties the two pieces together visually, even though one sits on a door and the other on a drawer. Solid brass takes the turned profile cleanly and holds it through years of handling.

Innovative engineering. Intelligent design.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Benadalid Knob & Pull Bar made of?

Solid brass, finished in a vintage tone across both the knob and the pull bar.

What finish does this hardware come in?

Vintage brass — a warm, slightly settled tone on both pieces of the set.

Does this product include both a knob and a pull?

Yes — the Benadalid is a matched set, a T-knob for doors and a pull bar for drawers, sharing the same turned detailing.

What design style does this hardware follow?

A classic-meets-contemporary style — turned brass detailing that reads timeless rather than trend-driven.

What makes the pull bar design distinctive?

The subtle turned ridges along its length, which echo the knob's detailing rather than leaving the bar plain.

Where can this knob and drawer pull be installed?

Kitchen cabinets, wardrobes, dressers, and bathroom vanities — knobs on doors, pull bars on drawers.

Is this hardware suitable for kitchens and bathrooms?

Yes — solid brass holds up well to daily kitchen and bathroom use, and develops patina rather than wearing out.

Does the knob match the pull bar design?

Yes — both pieces share the same turned profile, so they read as one set even installed across different cabinet types.

What type of base does the hardware use?

Standard hole spacing across both bar lengths, sized to fit typical cabinet and drawer fronts.

What visual effect does the brass finish provide?

A warm, grounded tone that ages gracefully — the vintage finish means it starts out looking a little settled rather than brand new.
