Installation Guide

No wiring here — just careful measuring, drilling, and mounting. Mortice locks take a bit more patience than a simple knob.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — surface installation on doors, drawers, or cabinetry; check your product's dimensions for placement and drilling points

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver (Phillips and flathead), drill and drill bits, Allen key
  • Tape measure, pencil, level
  • Chisel (for mortice lock installation)
  • Screws and anchors, safety goggles

Step by step

  1. Cabinet hardware — mark drilling points — use a tape measure and pencil; a template helps for uniformity across multiple pieces.
  2. Cabinet hardware — drill holes — use a bit matched to the screw diameter, keeping the drill straight.
  3. Cabinet hardware — mount — insert screws from inside the cabinet or drawer, secure the hardware on the front face, and tighten without overtightening.
  4. Cabinet hardware — align and inspect — confirm straightness and spacing before fully securing.
  5. Thumb lock or dummy handle — confirm orientation — determine left- or right-hand door swing and adjust as needed.
  6. Thumb lock or dummy handle — mark installation height — typically 36–38 inches from the floor to the handle center; align the mounting plate.
  7. Thumb lock or dummy handle — drill and attach — drill pilot holes and secure the backplate and handle with the included screws. Dummy handles install directly, no latch mechanism.
  8. Thumb lock only — install the strike plate — mark the latch location on the door frame, chisel a recess if needed, and screw the strike plate in.
  9. Mortice lock — cut the mortice pocket — use a chisel and drill to create a cavity in the door edge, following the provided measurements.
  10. Mortice lock — insert the lock body — fit it into the cavity and attach through the faceplate with screws.
  11. Mortice lock — install the handle — align the spindle through the lock, attach handles on both sides, and tighten with a screwdriver or Allen key.
  12. Mortice lock — install the cylinder (if applicable) — insert the key cylinder and secure with the cylinder screw from the door edge.
  13. Mortice lock — mount the strike plate — align with the latch mechanism and secure to the door frame.

Good to know

  • Double-check measurements before drilling.
  • Use a level for consistent alignment across multiple units.
  • If you're unfamiliar with mortice installation, consult a locksmith or professional.
  • Make sure all moving parts operate smoothly before final tightening.
  • Dummy handles are decorative or pull-only — they don't engage latches or locks.

One bar — two round anchors

The pull is turned from a single length of brass, smoothed into a bar that reads as one continuous cylinder rather than a stamped shape. Two round mounts hold it just off the surface, so fingers slip behind easily even with a full grip.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Barbate Pull Bar made of?

Solid brass throughout, finished in either vintage brass or chrome so the bar and its round mounts match consistently.

What design style does this Pull Bar follow?

A clean, minimal architectural line that works equally well against modern cabinetry and more classic, traditional interiors.

Where can the Barbate Pull Bar be installed?

Kitchen cabinets, wardrobes, bathroom vanities, and built-in storage — anywhere a flat cabinet door or drawer front needs hardware.

Does the Pull Bar sit flush on the surface?

No, it's mounted on minimal round bases that hold the bar slightly off the surface, leaving room for fingers to slip behind comfortably.

What grip style does this Pull Bar provide?

A smooth cylindrical bar shaped for a secure, comfortable hold, with no sharp edges or texture to catch on hands or clothing.

What color options are available for this product?

Two finishes — vintage brass and chrome — so you can match the pull to existing hardware or the tone of your cabinetry.

Is the design suitable for modern interiors?

Yes — its slim, restrained line and quiet proportions suit contemporary cabinetry without competing with the rest of the room.

Can it also work in classic interior settings?

Yes — the solid brass material and rounded mounts read comfortably in traditional kitchens and furniture as well as modern builds.

What makes the design visually balanced?

The proportion between the slim bar and its round mounts keeps the whole piece feeling composed rather than heavy or ornamental.

Is this Pull Bar intended for flat surfaces only?

It's designed for standard flat cabinet doors and drawer fronts; check the hole spacing against your existing hardware before ordering.
