The Object

Woodshaped to the hand

Albunan is cut from solid wood into an elongated, softly rounded form, smooth enough to feel comfortable under repeated use. The grain stays visible through a natural finish, giving each piece its own warmth. Knob or pull bar, it adds a quiet architectural detail without shouting for attention.
Why you'll love it
  • Solid wood with natural, visible grain
  • Softly rounded edges, comfortable in the hand
  • Smooth, hand-finished surface
  • Works on kitchens, wardrobes, and vanities
  • Five pull bar lengths plus a matching knob
Details

No wiring here — just careful measuring, drilling, and mounting. Mortice locks take a bit more patience than a simple knob.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — surface installation on doors, drawers, or cabinetry; check your product's dimensions for placement and drilling points

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver (Phillips and flathead), drill and drill bits, Allen key
  • Tape measure, pencil, level
  • Chisel (for mortice lock installation)
  • Screws and anchors, safety goggles

Step by step

  1. Cabinet hardware — mark drilling points — use a tape measure and pencil; a template helps for uniformity across multiple pieces.
  2. Cabinet hardware — drill holes — use a bit matched to the screw diameter, keeping the drill straight.
  3. Cabinet hardware — mount — insert screws from inside the cabinet or drawer, secure the hardware on the front face, and tighten without overtightening.
  4. Cabinet hardware — align and inspect — confirm straightness and spacing before fully securing.
  5. Thumb lock or dummy handle — confirm orientation — determine left- or right-hand door swing and adjust as needed.
  6. Thumb lock or dummy handle — mark installation height — typically 36–38 inches from the floor to the handle center; align the mounting plate.
  7. Thumb lock or dummy handle — drill and attach — drill pilot holes and secure the backplate and handle with the included screws. Dummy handles install directly, no latch mechanism.
  8. Thumb lock only — install the strike plate — mark the latch location on the door frame, chisel a recess if needed, and screw the strike plate in.
  9. Mortice lock — cut the mortice pocket — use a chisel and drill to create a cavity in the door edge, following the provided measurements.
  10. Mortice lock — insert the lock body — fit it into the cavity and attach through the faceplate with screws.
  11. Mortice lock — install the handle — align the spindle through the lock, attach handles on both sides, and tighten with a screwdriver or Allen key.
  12. Mortice lock — install the cylinder (if applicable) — insert the key cylinder and secure with the cylinder screw from the door edge.
  13. Mortice lock — mount the strike plate — align with the latch mechanism and secure to the door frame.

Good to know

  • Double-check measurements before drilling.
  • Use a level for consistent alignment across multiple units.
  • If you're unfamiliar with mortice installation, consult a locksmith or professional.
  • Make sure all moving parts operate smoothly before final tightening.
  • Dummy handles are decorative or pull-only — they don't engage latches or locks.

On the wood

Roundedsmooth from every angle

Each edge is softened rather than squared off, so the piece feels considered under the fingers rather than utilitarian. The natural wood finish leaves the grain visible, giving every knob and pull its own individual character. It's a small detail, touched often, made to feel right each time.

Frequently asked

Solid wood, finished to highlight its natural grain, so the warmth of the material comes through rather than being covered by a heavy coating.

Kitchen cabinets, wardrobes, bathroom vanities, and furniture pieces of all kinds — anywhere a warmer, more organic alternative to metal hardware is wanted.

Its elongated, softly rounded silhouette gives it a warmer, more tactile feel than typical metal hardware, standing out against an all-brass or all-chrome kitchen.

Yes — each piece is finished smooth, so the rounded edges feel comfortable under repeated use rather than rough or unfinished at the touch points.

Yes, naturally — each pull carries its own grain pattern, so no two pieces are identical, which is part of the appeal of a genuine wood material.

Yes — its clean, rounded silhouette sits comfortably in both contemporary and warmer, more traditional spaces, thanks to the simplicity of the overall shape.

Wood can shift subtly in tone with light exposure over years, which only adds to its natural character rather than being a sign of wear or damage.

Yes — the rounded profile was shaped specifically for a comfortable, secure hold, standing up well to the frequent handling a kitchen or wardrobe pull gets.

Yes — the knob and pull bar sizes cover both applications, so a single coordinated design can run across an entire kitchen or wardrobe.

It adds a warm, organic touch that softens cabinetry, especially alongside painted or matte surfaces, balancing out a kitchen that might otherwise feel too cool or metallic.
