The Object

Recessedthe wall becomes the fitting

The Westkapelle Wall Light disappears into the wall. Built from gypsum, it plasters in and finishes over so there is no bezel, no trim, no fitting — just light emerging from the surface itself. Available in twelve shapes from compact squares to tall vertical bars, it can introduce rhythm, depth, or a single quiet accent into any space. GU10 socket, dimmable on request.
Why you'll love it
  • Trimless gypsum body — plasters in flush to any wall or ceiling
  • Twelve shapes for rhythm, accent, or architectural effect
  • Warm, diffused light — no hotspot, no exposed source
  • Wall or ceiling mount — adapts to the room
  • GU10 socket — standard, replaceable, dimmable on request
Details

Most wall lamps are a simple bracket-and-wire job — but check your power type first, since hardwired, plug-in, and rechargeable models each install a little differently.

Before you begin

  • Dimming — most socketed lamps dim; integrated-LED models don't
  • Power — hardwired, plug-in, or rechargeable depending on the model; check your product details
  • Mounting — wall-mount, hardware included
  • Indoor/outdoor — confirm your model is rated for outdoor use before installing outside

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver
  • Wire nuts (included for hardwired models)
  • Voltage tester
  • Power drill (for new mounting locations)

Step by step

  1. Identify your power type — hardwired, plug-in, or rechargeable. Follow the steps below for yours.
  2. If hardwired: turn off the power — switch off at your main electrical panel and confirm with a voltage tester.
  3. If hardwired: remove the old lamp — unscrew it and disconnect the wires by removing the wire nuts.
  4. If hardwired: attach the new mounting bracket — align it with your junction box or marked wall location and secure with the included screws.
  5. If hardwired: connect the wires — black to black, white to white, green or bare to ground. Twist and secure with wire nuts, then tuck neatly into the junction box.
  6. If hardwired: mount the fixture — align with the bracket and secure with the provided screws.
  7. If hardwired: install the bulb — correct type and wattage, if your model uses one.
  8. If hardwired: restore power and test.
  9. If plug-in: mount the bracket — with anchors or screws, then attach the fixture and plug it into a nearby outlet. Route the cord neatly.
  10. If rechargeable: mount the bracket — with screws and anchors, fully charge the lamp with the included cable, then install it onto the bracket and power on.

Good to know

  • Follow your local electrical codes.
  • Bring in a licensed electrician if you're unsure.
  • Dust and clean your fixture regularly to keep it looking its best.

On the build

Gypsumset in, plastered over, invisible

The Westkapelle is made from gypsum precisely because gypsum can be finished and painted over like the wall around it. The result is a light that has no visible frame — the surface remains unbroken, and the illumination appears to come from the wall itself. Twelve shapes let you treat the fitting as an architectural element rather than a decoration.

Innovative engineering · intelligent design
Three things that make the Westkapelle different from a standard wall light.
No trim

Plasters flush — no bezel or border, just light emerging from the surface.

Twelve shapes

From a compact 10x10cm square to a tall 49x59cm form — create rhythm or a single quiet accent.

GU10 socket

Standard GU10 — replaceable with any GU10 LED in your preferred colour temperature.

Frequently asked

Gypsum and metal. The gypsum body is designed to be plastered over and painted, so it blends seamlessly into any wall or ceiling surface with no visible bezel or trim.

Dimming is available on request. The Westkapelle uses a GU10 socket, so it can also be paired with a dimmable GU10 bulb on an existing dimmer circuit — confirm bulb compatibility first.

Standard GU10 LEDs. These are widely available, and you can choose your preferred colour temperature — warm white (2700K) suits most living spaces.

Yes — the GU10 bulb is user-replaceable. Remove it as you would any GU10 fixture, allow the light to cool first, then swap in a new bulb.

90–260V, covering residential standards worldwide. No transformer is needed for standard installations.

The Westkapelle emits warm, diffused light — the exact colour temperature depends on the GU10 bulb you choose. Warm white (2700–3000K) is recommended for a cosy, residential feel.

No — the Westkapelle is an indoor fixture. Gypsum is not moisture-resistant; it's designed for dry interior walls and ceilings only.

The Westkapelle is designed for minimalist, contemporary, and architectural interiors where clean lines and an uncluttered wall surface matter. It also works in transitional spaces.

Yes — a GU10 LED bulb is included. It fits the socket directly and provides warm, diffused light from installation day.

The Westkapelle is wall-mounted and hardwired. It's designed to be set into the wall during construction or renovation and finished over with plaster and paint. Professional installation is strongly recommended.
