Installation Guide

Three ways to install, depending on your panel — nail gun, peel-and-stick, or glue-on. Pick the one that matches what you ordered.

Before you begin

  • Prep — walls should be clean, dry, and smooth; remove dust, grease, nails, and flaky paint
  • Layout — measure and mark your starting line with a level and pencil, and lay out panels on the floor first to visualize placement

What you'll need

  • Tape measure, level, pencil or chalk line
  • Utility knife or fine-tooth saw, clean cloth
  • Caulk gun (if using adhesive), rubber roller (for peel-and-stick), brad nail gun (for nail gun install)

Step by step

  1. Nail gun — for thicker or heavier panels like wood/MDF. Locate wall studs with a stud finder and mark them.
  2. Nail gun — start at the bottom corner and align your first panel to your guidelines.
  3. Nail gun — fasten into studs — nails every 12–16".
  4. Nail gun — fit remaining panels tightly together and continue fastening. Fill nail holes with wood filler or color-matched putty. Optionally, add caulk between panels for seamless joints. Leave a 1/8" gap at edges for expansion.
  5. Peel-and-stick — for lightweight panels with pre-applied adhesive. Wipe the wall clean of dust and grease and let it dry fully. Measure and draw a level starting line.
  6. Peel-and-stick — peel and place — remove the adhesive backing from the first panel, align carefully, and press onto the wall starting at one edge.
  7. Peel-and-stick — roll it flat — use a rubber roller to apply even pressure, then continue placing panels tightly against each other. Avoid repositioning — the adhesive is strongest on first contact.
  8. Glue-on — for panels without adhesive, like solid PVC, composite, or acoustic. Clean the wall surface thoroughly.
  9. Glue-on — apply adhesive in an "S" or zig-zag pattern on the back of the panel.
  10. Glue-on — press into place — align to your guide marks and press firmly against the wall. Use painter's tape to hold it if needed.
  11. Glue-on — repeat and finish — continue with remaining panels, keeping spacing even and level. Wipe away any adhesive squeeze-out with a damp cloth. Let adhesive cure 24–48 hours before applying pressure or weight.

Interlocking edges — the alignment is automatic

Each Volda tile is moulded with a precision tongue-and-groove edge on all four sides. Butt two tiles together and the edge registers immediately — no measuring gap, no grout line to fill. Adhesive or double-sided tape holds the tile to the wall; the interlocking system holds adjacent tiles to each other.

Innovative engineering. Intelligent design.

Frequently Asked Questions

What material are the Volda Wall Panels made from?

Rigid PVC — a synthetic material chosen for its resistance to moisture, impact, and humidity. It does not rot, swell, or absorb water the way wood-based panels can in damp environments.

How do the interlocking edges work?

Each tile has a tongue on two sides and a groove on the other two. Press adjacent tiles together and the edge registers automatically — no measuring or filling required. Adhesive holds the tile to the wall; the interlock holds the tiles to each other.

Can the Volda Wall Panel be used in bathrooms?

Yes — PVC is inherently moisture-resistant, so the Volda is well suited to bathroom walls above the splash zone. For direct water contact (shower walls), confirm the adhesive you use is also waterproof.

How do I install the Volda Wall Panel?

Clean and dry the wall surface, apply adhesive or double-sided tape to the back of each tile, press to the wall, and interlock each tile to its neighbour. Tiles can be cut with a utility knife or fine-tooth saw to fit edges and corners.

Is the finish easy to clean?

Yes — the glossy PVC surface wipes clean with a damp cloth. For tougher marks, a mild household cleaner works without damaging the surface. Avoid abrasive pads, which can scratch the gloss.

Can the Volda Wall Panel be painted?

Yes — PVC accepts most water-based paints with a bonding primer applied first. Sand the surface lightly, apply primer, then paint. The gloss finish will need scuffing for paint to adhere properly.

Is this an eco-friendly product?

The Volda is made from recyclable PVC — the material can be returned to a PVC recycling stream at the end of its life. PVC is also a long-life material, which reduces the frequency of replacement compared to lower-durability alternatives.

What rooms does the Volda Wall Panel suit?

Living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens, dining rooms, bathrooms, and offices. The 30 x 30 cm tile format works for feature walls, full-room panelling, or targeted accent areas behind a desk or bed.

Does it require professional installation?

No — the Volda is designed for DIY installation. The interlocking edges make alignment straightforward, and the tiles are light enough to handle solo. Professional installation is an option if you prefer, but not a requirement.

How do I order enough panels for my wall?

Measure your wall area in square metres and divide by 0.09 (each tile covers 30 x 30 cm = 0.09 m²). Add 10% for cuts and waste. Contact us before ordering if you need help calculating quantities — Nava ships free worldwide with a 1-year warranty.
