Glass shade and iron base. The glass diffuses the E27 bulb's output into a soft ambient glow; the iron base provides weight and stability. Both materials are finished to a consistent black — the iron in a solid black, the glass with the natural tonal quality of the glass itself.
The Vertebratus has a standard E27 bulb socket, so it's compatible with any smart E27 LED bulb that supports your preferred platform — Philips Hue, LIFX, TP-Link Tapo, and others all make E27 smart bulbs. Note: the lamp itself is not dimmable by switch, so use the smart bulb's own dimming function.
No installation required — the Vertebratus is a plug-in corded lamp. Screw in the included E27 LED bulb, place it on any stable surface near a wall socket, and plug in. It's ready to use in under a minute.

The glass shade wraps the E27 bulb so the output reads as a diffused surface glow rather than a point. Positioned on a bedside or side table, it creates a warm pool of light at seating or resting level — complementing overhead sources by filling the room from the side and below.
The glass and iron construction has no mechanical wear points — it will last indefinitely with normal use. The included E27 LED is rated to approximately 15,000–25,000 hours. When it needs replacing, any E27 bulb up to 15W fits the socket.
The E27 bulb is universally available and easy to replace. For shade or base damage, contact our team — depending on the nature of the issue, replacements or resolutions under warranty may apply. Hardware components are not user-serviceable beyond bulb replacement.
Yes — the included 15W E27 LED replaces a 75–100W incandescent equivalent at a fraction of the energy draw. At standard household use (4–6 hours daily), the lamp costs very little to run over its lifespan.
Wipe the glass shade with a soft dry or lightly damp cloth — always with the lamp switched off and unplugged. The iron base can be wiped with a dry cloth. Avoid water near the bulb socket or cord. The glass benefits from occasional cleaning to maintain the quality of the diffused output.
