The Object

Texture that worksgrip built into the brass

The Vagur pulls a knurled pattern across its brass surface — not for decoration, but for grip. Where a smooth knob can slip from damp hands, the Vagur's texture holds. Available as a round knob, a T-knob, or in four pull bar lengths up to 38 cm, all sharing the same knurled surface and brass material. Gold or black finish; wide hole spacing options. Hardware included.
Why you'll love it
  • Knurled surface — real grip even with damp hands
  • Solid brass — built to last in kitchens and bathrooms
  • Four pull bar lengths plus knob and T-knob options
  • Gold or black finish — two finishes, one design language
  • Four hole spacing options to match existing cabinetry
Details

No wiring here — just careful measuring, drilling, and mounting. Mortice locks take a bit more patience than a simple knob.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — surface installation on doors, drawers, or cabinetry; check your product's dimensions for placement and drilling points

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver (Phillips and flathead), drill and drill bits, Allen key
  • Tape measure, pencil, level
  • Chisel (for mortice lock installation)
  • Screws and anchors, safety goggles

Step by step

  1. Cabinet hardware — mark drilling points — use a tape measure and pencil; a template helps for uniformity across multiple pieces.
  2. Cabinet hardware — drill holes — use a bit matched to the screw diameter, keeping the drill straight.
  3. Cabinet hardware — mount — insert screws from inside the cabinet or drawer, secure the hardware on the front face, and tighten without overtightening.
  4. Cabinet hardware — align and inspect — confirm straightness and spacing before fully securing.
  5. Thumb lock or dummy handle — confirm orientation — determine left- or right-hand door swing and adjust as needed.
  6. Thumb lock or dummy handle — mark installation height — typically 36–38 inches from the floor to the handle center; align the mounting plate.
  7. Thumb lock or dummy handle — drill and attach — drill pilot holes and secure the backplate and handle with the included screws. Dummy handles install directly, no latch mechanism.
  8. Thumb lock only — install the strike plate — mark the latch location on the door frame, chisel a recess if needed, and screw the strike plate in.
  9. Mortice lock — cut the mortice pocket — use a chisel and drill to create a cavity in the door edge, following the provided measurements.
  10. Mortice lock — insert the lock body — fit it into the cavity and attach through the faceplate with screws.
  11. Mortice lock — install the handle — align the spindle through the lock, attach handles on both sides, and tighten with a screwdriver or Allen key.
  12. Mortice lock — install the cylinder (if applicable) — insert the key cylinder and secure with the cylinder screw from the door edge.
  13. Mortice lock — mount the strike plate — align with the latch mechanism and secure to the door frame.

Good to know

  • Double-check measurements before drilling.
  • Use a level for consistent alignment across multiple units.
  • If you're unfamiliar with mortice installation, consult a locksmith or professional.
  • Make sure all moving parts operate smoothly before final tightening.
  • Dummy handles are decorative or pull-only — they don't engage latches or locks.

The making

Knurled across the surfacetexture pressed in

Knurling is cut into the brass before finishing — a pattern of fine ridges pressed or rolled across the grip surface that provides traction without adding visual noise. On the Vagur, the knurling runs the full gripping surface of both the knob and the pull bars, so the texture is consistent whether you're pulling open a kitchen drawer or a wardrobe door. Available in gold or black; hole-to-hole spacing in four sizes.

Innovative engineering · intelligent design
Three things that make the Vagur the right hardware choice.
Real grip

Knurled texture provides traction where a smooth surface would slip — especially in kitchen and bathroom use.

Full range

Round knob, T-knob, and four pull bar lengths — one consistent design across all cabinetry.

Two finishes

Gold for warmth, black for contrast — both over solid brass, both with the same knurled texture.

Frequently asked

Yes — the knurled brass profile reads as traditional hardware and sits comfortably in period properties. The gold finish particularly suits heritage interiors where ornate original fixtures are present elsewhere.

Solid brass throughout, finished in gold or black. The knurling is pressed into the brass surface, so the texture is a permanent feature of the material — not a coating over a different base.

Each piece uses standard screw-through mounting — drill the hole to match your chosen hole spacing, insert the fixing screw from behind the cabinet face, and tighten. Hardware is included. A screwdriver is all you need.

Yes — fixing screws are included with every piece. Standard installation requires only a drill and screwdriver. Check hole-to-hole spacing against your existing cabinetry before ordering pull bars.

Yes — the ridges are fine enough not to feel rough, but present enough to provide real traction. The knurling adds grip in kitchen and bathroom environments where hands are often wet or oily.

Solid brass is one of the most durable hardware materials — it doesn't corrode, chip, or crack under normal use. The Vagur's build is suited to high-frequency use in kitchens, bathrooms, and wardrobes.

Yes — because the base is solid brass, the finish develops naturally rather than peeling. The gold finish will gradually warm and deepen with use; the black finish is treated to stay consistent in everyday conditions.

Yes — solid brass and knurled texture are both well-suited to high-frequency use. The hardware is a good choice for heavily used kitchen cabinetry, hallway cupboards, and commercial fitted furniture.

The knurled surface adds reliable grip on every pull or turn — particularly useful in kitchens and bathrooms where hands may be wet. The range of pull bar lengths also allows precise sizing to the cabinet or drawer width.

None beyond occasional wiping with a soft dry cloth. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners. Nava ships the Vagur free worldwide with a 1-year warranty, and returns are accepted within 14 days of delivery.
