Brass behindthe handle

The Uummannaq Handle backplate sits behind a knob or pull, framing it in solid brass. It covers the holes and marks left by old hardware, so a cabinet reads clean and considered again. Three finishes, made to pair with our handles — a small detail that pulls the whole piece together.
Why you'll love it
  • Solid brass — weighty and made to last
  • Covers holes and marks from old hardware
  • Pairs with our handles for a matched look
  • Three finishes: brass, black, bronze
  • Simple to fit — a hassle-free upgrade
Details

A quick face-lift, not a rewire — you're only swapping the cover plate, but we still have you flip the breaker as a precaution.

What's included

One solid brass wall plate. No electrical components included.

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver

Step by step

  1. Turn off the power — at your circuit breaker, even though you're only replacing the plate.
  2. Remove the existing plate — loosen and remove the screws, then lift it away from the wall.
  3. Inspect the underlying devices — confirm your dimmers, toggles, outlets, or other modules are secure and undamaged.
  4. Position the brass plate — align it over the existing devices so all openings fit cleanly around the controls.
  5. Insert the screws — use the included matching brass screws, threading gently to avoid stripping the holes.
  6. Don't overtighten — snug against the wall is enough; overtightening can damage the brass or the wall surface.
  7. Check the fit — the plate should sit flush, with all device cutouts aligned for easy access.
  8. Restore power — once everything is secure and properly positioned.
  9. Final polish — wipe the brass gently with a soft cloth to remove fingerprints or dust.

Solid brassframing the handle

Each backplate is made from solid brass, so it carries weight and warmth rather than feeling like a thin accent. The three finishes are chosen to sit with our handle range, tying knob and plate together. It frames the hardware cleanly and hides what the last fittings left behind.

Frequently asked

It's made from solid brass — not plated — so it has real weight and holds its finish well. Brass is durable and resists tarnishing, which keeps the backplate looking clean for years.

Yes. Solid brass naturally resists tarnishing, so the brass, black, and bronze finishes keep their look over time. An occasional wipe with a soft cloth is all they need to stay clean.

It's a simple fit. Line the backplate up behind your knob or handle over the existing holes, then run the handle screws through both and tighten. No new drilling needed in most cases.

Yes. It's made to pair with our handle range but works with most standard knobs and pulls too. Just check your handle's screw spacing fits behind the plate before ordering.

Yes — that's a big part of what it does. The backplate sits over the holes and marks left by previous handles, giving a cabinet or door a clean, finished look without filling and repainting.

None special. Wipe it with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry it off. Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals, which can dull the brass finish over time.

It frames each knob or handle in solid brass and ties your hardware together across a run of cabinetry. In three finishes, it covers old marks and gives the whole piece a more considered, finished feel.

Yes. Its plain solid-brass form and choice of finishes sit comfortably in both modern and period interiors, so it fits whether your cabinetry is pared-back or traditional.

Yes. Because it mounts with the same screws as the handle, you can remove or change it as easily as you fitted it — handy if you update your hardware later.

Yes. It comes with a 1-year manufacturer warranty, extendable to 2, 3, or 5 years at checkout. If anything is wrong on arrival, our team will sort a repair or replacement.
