The Timber uses a stainless steel frame and a micro-woven fabric diffuser panel. The steel gives the fixture its structural rigidity; the fabric is chosen for its light-diffracting properties and resistance to temperature and fading.
Single LEDs are distributed across the surface of the woven fabric diffuser, so the light appears spread across the whole disc rather than projecting from one point. The effect is softer and more ambient than a conventional shade.
The Timber's disc form and fabric material are contemporary rather than period-specific, but its understated black finish sits neutrally in most interiors. It mounts to a standard junction box like any conventional fixture.
The integrated LEDs are rated for 50,000+ hours — well over a decade of daily use at typical domestic hours.
