Installation Guide

A quick face-lift, not a rewire — you're only swapping the cover plate, but we still have you flip the breaker as a precaution.

What's included

One solid brass wall plate. No electrical components included.

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver

Step by step

  1. Turn off the power — at your circuit breaker, even though you're only replacing the plate.
  2. Remove the existing plate — loosen and remove the screws, then lift it away from the wall.
  3. Inspect the underlying devices — confirm your dimmers, toggles, outlets, or other modules are secure and undamaged.
  4. Position the brass plate — align it over the existing devices so all openings fit cleanly around the controls.
  5. Insert the screws — use the included matching brass screws, threading gently to avoid stripping the holes.
  6. Don't overtighten — snug against the wall is enough; overtightening can damage the brass or the wall surface.
  7. Check the fit — the plate should sit flush, with all device cutouts aligned for easy access.
  8. Restore power — once everything is secure and properly positioned.
  9. Final polish — wipe the brass gently with a soft cloth to remove fingerprints or dust.

Treated — and still changing

The patination on the Brantome Brass Plate is achieved through controlled chemical treatment, not artificial ageing spray. The result is a surface with genuine tonal variation — from pale gold highlights on raised edges to deeper amber and brown in recessed areas. Over months of daily contact, the plate shifts further: it becomes a record of how the room is used.

Innovative engineering. Intelligent design.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes the vintage brass with patina finish on The Brantome Brass Plate different from plain brass?

Plain brass is polished to a uniform surface. The Brantome Brass Plate (The Brass With Patina) is solid brass that has been individually chemically treated — the tonal variation and depth are built in, not applied as a paint or lacquer.

Will the patina on each Brantome Brass Plate (The Brass With Patina) look exactly the same?

No — and that's the point. Each plate is treated individually so highlights and tones land differently on every piece. Within a set they will be harmonious, but not identical.

Does The Brantome Brass Plate (The Brass With Patina) work best in traditional homes only?

No — the aged brass finish reads well in modern, industrial, transitional, and traditional interiors. It adds material warmth and contrast to spaces that might otherwise feel too uniform.

What kind of wall colours pair best with The Brantome Brass Plate (The Brass With Patina)?

Deep tones — forest green, charcoal, navy, terracotta — let the warm brass read clearly. It also works against white and off-white walls where the patina depth adds visual weight.

Is The Brantome Brass Plate (The Brass With Patina) a good choice for restoration projects or older houses?

Yes — the patina aligns naturally with existing aged brass hardware in period properties. It doesn't need to match exactly; the variation reads as authentic, not mismatched.

Will The Brantome Brass Plate (The Brass With Patina) hide wear and handling marks better than polished finishes?

Significantly better. The pre-patinated surface means new contact marks blend into the existing tonal variation rather than showing as scratches on a mirror-bright surface.

What gang size should I choose for The Brantome Brass Plate (The Brass With Patina)?

Contact us with your module's dimensions and gang configuration. We'll confirm the right size and variant before you order — ensuring a clean, flush fit with your existing modules.

Can The Brantome Brass Plate (The Brass With Patina) make a newer room feel less builder-grade?

Yes — it's one of the fastest ways to add character to a new build. The patinated brass introduces material depth that standard white plastic or chrome plates completely lack.

Is installation mostly cosmetic, or does it change the electrical setup too?

Cosmetic only — The Brantome Brass Plate (The Brass With Patina) is a surround plate. Your existing electrical module stays in place; only the face plate changes. No rewiring required.

Who is The Brantome Brass Plate (The Brass With Patina) best for?

Anyone who wants a wall plate with genuine material character — whether in a period restoration, a modern home that needs warmth, or a renovation where the builder-grade finish has to go. Ships free worldwide, 15–21 business days.
