Installation Guide

A quick face-lift, not a rewire — you're only swapping the cover plate, but we still have you flip the breaker as a precaution.

What's included

One solid brass wall plate. No electrical components included.

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver

Step by step

  1. Turn off the power — at your circuit breaker, even though you're only replacing the plate.
  2. Remove the existing plate — loosen and remove the screws, then lift it away from the wall.
  3. Inspect the underlying devices — confirm your dimmers, toggles, outlets, or other modules are secure and undamaged.
  4. Position the brass plate — align it over the existing devices so all openings fit cleanly around the controls.
  5. Insert the screws — use the included matching brass screws, threading gently to avoid stripping the holes.
  6. Don't overtighten — snug against the wall is enough; overtightening can damage the brass or the wall surface.
  7. Check the fit — the plate should sit flush, with all device cutouts aligned for easy access.
  8. Restore power — once everything is secure and properly positioned.
  9. Final polish — wipe the brass gently with a soft cloth to remove fingerprints or dust.

Brushed steel — a finish that stays exactly itself

The stainless-steel finish is brushed in one direction — consistent in tone and texture, without the variation of patina or the sharpness of polished chrome. It reads as precise and deliberate: a small detail done cleanly. Coordinates naturally with chrome, brushed nickel, and polished concrete.

Innovative engineering. Intelligent design.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the stainless steel finish compare with the warmer brass options?

The Brantome Brass Plate (The Steel) reads cooler and more neutral than the warm brass variants. It does not develop a patina — the brushed finish stays consistent, which suits rooms where stability of tone matters more than character.

Does stainless steel suit modern kitchens better than brass?

Often yes — kitchens with polished stone benchtops, white cabinetry, or stainless appliances tend to read better with the steel finish. Brass can feel warm but overstated in a very cool kitchen palette.

Will this finish look too cold in a residential space?

The brushed texture softens the steel finish — it reads as clean and precise rather than cold. Paired with warm wall tones or timber flooring, it sits well without pulling the room in a cooler direction.

Is stainless steel better for a low-maintenance look?

Yes — unlike the brass variants, the stainless finish does not develop patina or require periodic polishing. It wipes clean and holds its tone indefinitely with minimal attention.

What design styles pair well with this finish?

Contemporary, industrial, transitional, and Japandi-influenced interiors. It also works in Scandinavian spaces where metal accents tend toward cool neutrals rather than warm tones.

Does this plate lean more decorative or more understated in a room?

Understated. The brushed stainless finish is chosen for its ability to recede — it completes the wall without drawing the eye. The material quality is evident on close inspection, not at a distance.

Is this a good option for laundry rooms, mudrooms, or utility areas?

Yes — the Brantome Brass Plate (The Steel) is well-suited to utility spaces where durability and low maintenance matter more than decorative warmth. The solid brass construction handles daily use in high-traffic areas.

Will it coordinate with chrome and brushed nickel hardware?

Yes — brushed stainless reads closely alongside brushed nickel and sits cleanly beside chrome. It does not fight with either finish, which makes it the most versatile option for rooms with mixed metal hardware.

Does this plate still work with standard electrical modules?

Yes — the Brantome Brass Plate (The Steel) uses the same construction and mounting points as the other variants. It accepts most standard electrical modules without modification.

When does stainless steel make more sense than the warmer plate finishes?

When the room's existing metals are chrome, brushed nickel, or polished steel; when the palette runs cool; or when you want a wall plate that reads clean and invisible rather than warm and considered. Brass works with warmth — stainless works with precision.
