The Object

Brass platea finish the room grows into

The Brantome Brass Plate is 100% brass, individually treated to develop a unique patina from the day it goes on the wall. The surface shifts from bright highlights to deeper, time-worn tones — not a fixed colour but a material that keeps changing. Fits most standard electrical modules; installs in minutes with standard mounting points.
Why you'll love it
  • 100% brass — weighty, scratch-resistant, built to last
  • Individual patina treatment — every plate ages uniquely
  • Universal fit — works with most standard electrical modules
  • Installs in minutes — standard mounting points, no special tools
  • Brass finish that deepens and improves with age
Details

A quick face-lift, not a rewire — you're only swapping the cover plate, but we still have you flip the breaker as a precaution.

What's included

One solid brass wall plate. No electrical components included.

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver

Step by step

  1. Turn off the power — at your circuit breaker, even though you're only replacing the plate.
  2. Remove the existing plate — loosen and remove the screws, then lift it away from the wall.
  3. Inspect the underlying devices — confirm your dimmers, toggles, outlets, or other modules are secure and undamaged.
  4. Position the brass plate — align it over the existing devices so all openings fit cleanly around the controls.
  5. Insert the screws — use the included matching brass screws, threading gently to avoid stripping the holes.
  6. Don't overtighten — snug against the wall is enough; overtightening can damage the brass or the wall surface.
  7. Check the fit — the plate should sit flush, with all device cutouts aligned for easy access.
  8. Restore power — once everything is secure and properly positioned.
  9. Final polish — wipe the brass gently with a soft cloth to remove fingerprints or dust.

The finish

Patina brasscolour that lives and deepens

The Brantome's finish is not a fixed colour — it is a state at the time of installation, and it continues from there. Individually treated brass develops its own highlight patterns and shadow depths. No two plates age identically; the finish becomes specific to the room and the hand that touches it.

Frequently asked

Plain brass starts bright and warm, then deepens naturally with age. A painted finish is fixed from the start; brass develops — each plate building its own character over time rather than staying static.

Yes. The yellow-warm tone of brass reads against walls and trim the way natural wood does — it adds warmth without colour, which is why it sits well in rooms with neutral palettes and natural materials.

Natural materials — linen, oak, marble, and stone — pair particularly well. The brass complement warm neutrals and earthy tones. It also contrasts cleanly with darker walls, white trim, and black fixtures.

Not for long. The patina treatment starts the ageing process before the plate is shipped, so the surface already carries subtle tonal depth on arrival. It will settle further over the first few months of use.

Both have longevity, but they read differently. Brass is warm and organic — it suits spaces that lean toward natural materials and traditional craft. The right choice depends on the tone of the room, not timelessness in the abstract.

Kitchens, living rooms, and bedrooms — anywhere wall plates are visible and the room has warm or neutral tones. It is especially strong in spaces where other brass or gold hardware is already present.

Yes. Brass and matte black is a well-established pairing in interior hardware — the contrast reads deliberate and considered. The Brantome's warmer tone balances the cool flatness of black fixtures.

Yes — it is the kind of detail that completes a room rather than changing it. Replacing a white plastic plate with the Brantome raises the quality of finish visibly without requiring any other changes.

Light marks may show briefly — brass is a soft metal. With the patina finish, contact marks blend quickly into the plate's developing surface. Over time, the most-touched areas develop the deepest tones.

When the room has warm natural tones and you want the plate to disappear into that palette rather than stand out. Plain brass recedes in a warm room; patina and black-accent finishes make a stronger statement in high-contrast interiors.
