The Object

Glass over brassclear and grounded

The Sund Knob places clear or hexagonal glass on a brass fitting — the transparency of the glass lets the cabinet surface show through while the brass base anchors it firmly. A smooth, rounded grip in two knob forms and two pull bar lengths; in clear or black. It suits any cabinet that benefits from a material-led detail without competing with the furniture itself.
Why you'll love it
  • Clear glass lets the cabinet surface show through the fitting
  • Hexagonal knob option for a more geometric, considered look
  • Brass base — warm, durable, and widely compatible
  • Two knob forms plus two pull bar lengths for any configuration
  • Smooth ergonomic grip — comfortable in daily use
Details

No wiring here — just careful measuring, drilling, and mounting. Mortice locks take a bit more patience than a simple knob.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — surface installation on doors, drawers, or cabinetry; check your product's dimensions for placement and drilling points

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver (Phillips and flathead), drill and drill bits, Allen key
  • Tape measure, pencil, level
  • Chisel (for mortice lock installation)
  • Screws and anchors, safety goggles

Step by step

  1. Cabinet hardware — mark drilling points — use a tape measure and pencil; a template helps for uniformity across multiple pieces.
  2. Cabinet hardware — drill holes — use a bit matched to the screw diameter, keeping the drill straight.
  3. Cabinet hardware — mount — insert screws from inside the cabinet or drawer, secure the hardware on the front face, and tighten without overtightening.
  4. Cabinet hardware — align and inspect — confirm straightness and spacing before fully securing.
  5. Thumb lock or dummy handle — confirm orientation — determine left- or right-hand door swing and adjust as needed.
  6. Thumb lock or dummy handle — mark installation height — typically 36–38 inches from the floor to the handle center; align the mounting plate.
  7. Thumb lock or dummy handle — drill and attach — drill pilot holes and secure the backplate and handle with the included screws. Dummy handles install directly, no latch mechanism.
  8. Thumb lock only — install the strike plate — mark the latch location on the door frame, chisel a recess if needed, and screw the strike plate in.
  9. Mortice lock — cut the mortice pocket — use a chisel and drill to create a cavity in the door edge, following the provided measurements.
  10. Mortice lock — insert the lock body — fit it into the cavity and attach through the faceplate with screws.
  11. Mortice lock — install the handle — align the spindle through the lock, attach handles on both sides, and tighten with a screwdriver or Allen key.
  12. Mortice lock — install the cylinder (if applicable) — insert the key cylinder and secure with the cylinder screw from the door edge.
  13. Mortice lock — mount the strike plate — align with the latch mechanism and secure to the door frame.

Good to know

  • Double-check measurements before drilling.
  • Use a level for consistent alignment across multiple units.
  • If you're unfamiliar with mortice installation, consult a locksmith or professional.
  • Make sure all moving parts operate smoothly before final tightening.
  • Dummy handles are decorative or pull-only — they don't engage latches or locks.

On the glass

Transparent glassthe cabinet beneath it shows

Clear glass doesn't assert itself against the cabinet door — it reveals it. The grain of the wood, the tone of the paint, or the veining of the laminate stays visible through the fitting, so the Sund reads as a finish detail rather than an addition. The brass mounting does the structural work quietly underneath.

Clear glass

Transparency lets the cabinet material show — the Sund adds detail without covering it.

Brass foundation

Solid brass base secures the glass and brings warmth to black or clear options alike.

Frequently asked

Yes. Clear glass cabinet hardware has been a feature of period and traditional interiors for over a century. The Sund's round and hexagonal forms suit Victorian, Georgian, and Edwardian cabinetry as well as modern kitchens.

Brass base and glass knob or pull. The brass provides the mounting structure and warm tone; the glass delivers the transparency that makes the Sund distinctive against any cabinet surface.

A few minutes per handle. Mark the hole position, drill to the required depth, insert the bolt from inside the cabinet, and tighten. No specialist tools required.

Yes — the glass is formed for durability, not display; the brass base is built for the repetitive force of daily cabinet use. Both materials hold their finish well over years of regular handling.

Yes — installation guidance and all necessary hardware are included in the box. Standard tools (drill, screwdriver) are all that's needed.

Yes — the Sund suits any cabinetry in any room. Its classic glass-and-brass language works in kitchens, bathrooms, bedroom wardrobes, dressers, and sideboards.

Wipe with a slightly damp cloth — glass stays clean easily. Polish the brass base with a dry cloth to keep the finish bright. Avoid abrasive cleaners on either material.

Yes — a drill for the hole, a screwdriver for the bolt. That's the full tool list. Most installations take under five minutes per fitting.

Clear glass is one of the most versatile cabinet materials — it picks up the colour and tone of the cabinet itself rather than imposing its own. The brass base adds warmth. Both the clear and black options suit a wide range of palettes.

Yes. The smooth glass surface is comfortable to hold in any direction — no edges or ridges to catch the fingers. The Sund Knob ships free worldwide with delivery in approximately 15–21 business days and carries a 1-year warranty.
