The Object

Timberturned to a cylinder, tipped in brass

The Skanderborg Knob is a solid wood cylinder with minimal brass accents at the base — a small detail that reads clean and considered on any cabinet door or drawer. The pull bar shares the same cylindrical form, available in five lengths from 15.6 cm to 38 cm. Smooth grip, warm tone, works on kitchen cabinets, wardrobes, and furniture in modern, Scandinavian, or rustic spaces.
Why you'll love it
  • Solid wood cylinder with brass accent detail
  • Available as knob or pull bar in five lengths
  • Smooth ergonomic grip — comfortable for daily use
  • Suits modern, Scandinavian, and rustic interiors
  • Works on cabinets, drawers, and wardrobe doors
Details

No wiring here — just careful measuring, drilling, and mounting. Mortice locks take a bit more patience than a simple knob.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — surface installation on doors, drawers, or cabinetry; check your product's dimensions for placement and drilling points

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver (Phillips and flathead), drill and drill bits, Allen key
  • Tape measure, pencil, level
  • Chisel (for mortice lock installation)
  • Screws and anchors, safety goggles

Step by step

  1. Cabinet hardware — mark drilling points — use a tape measure and pencil; a template helps for uniformity across multiple pieces.
  2. Cabinet hardware — drill holes — use a bit matched to the screw diameter, keeping the drill straight.
  3. Cabinet hardware — mount — insert screws from inside the cabinet or drawer, secure the hardware on the front face, and tighten without overtightening.
  4. Cabinet hardware — align and inspect — confirm straightness and spacing before fully securing.
  5. Thumb lock or dummy handle — confirm orientation — determine left- or right-hand door swing and adjust as needed.
  6. Thumb lock or dummy handle — mark installation height — typically 36–38 inches from the floor to the handle center; align the mounting plate.
  7. Thumb lock or dummy handle — drill and attach — drill pilot holes and secure the backplate and handle with the included screws. Dummy handles install directly, no latch mechanism.
  8. Thumb lock only — install the strike plate — mark the latch location on the door frame, chisel a recess if needed, and screw the strike plate in.
  9. Mortice lock — cut the mortice pocket — use a chisel and drill to create a cavity in the door edge, following the provided measurements.
  10. Mortice lock — insert the lock body — fit it into the cavity and attach through the faceplate with screws.
  11. Mortice lock — install the handle — align the spindle through the lock, attach handles on both sides, and tighten with a screwdriver or Allen key.
  12. Mortice lock — install the cylinder (if applicable) — insert the key cylinder and secure with the cylinder screw from the door edge.
  13. Mortice lock — mount the strike plate — align with the latch mechanism and secure to the door frame.

Good to know

  • Double-check measurements before drilling.
  • Use a level for consistent alignment across multiple units.
  • If you're unfamiliar with mortice installation, consult a locksmith or professional.
  • Make sure all moving parts operate smoothly before final tightening.
  • Dummy handles are decorative or pull-only — they don't engage latches or locks.

The finish

Wood grainleft visible under a smooth finish

The Skanderborg Knob's cylindrical body keeps the wood grain visible — the finish is smooth rather than painted, so the natural warmth of the material comes through. The brass accent at the base is minimal: a ring or cap rather than an inlay, so it complements without competing. Both the knob and the pull bar share the same diameter, which keeps a consistent visual weight across a run of cabinets.

Frequently asked

Solid wood with metal brass accents. The cylindrical body is wood, left with a smooth natural finish; the brass detail at the base adds a considered metallic contrast without overwhelming the piece.

On cabinets, drawers, wardrobe doors, and furniture doors — anywhere you'd use a standard knob or pull bar. The Skanderborg Knob suits kitchens, bedrooms, and living room furniture equally.

Yes — the cylindrical wood and brass combination sits naturally in modern, Scandinavian, and rustic interiors. The Skanderborg Knob is restrained enough to complement rather than compete with the surrounding space.

Yes — the smooth cylindrical form of the Skanderborg Knob fits naturally in the hand. The diameter gives enough purchase for easy pulling without requiring a full grip, even for frequent daily use.

Yes — the Skanderborg Knob is a common choice for kitchen cabinet doors and drawer fronts. The wood and brass finish holds up to regular handling and wipes clean with a dry cloth.

The Skanderborg Knob comes as a 6 cm knob, and as pull bars in five lengths: 15.6, 18.8, 22, 28, and 38 cm. Hole spacings are provided for each pull bar size — check the specs against your existing drill holes.

The Skanderborg Knob uses solid wood rather than veneer or composite — it won't delaminate or chip at the edges from frequent handling. Light surface marks can be buffed out with fine-grain sandpaper.

Mounting hardware is included with the Skanderborg Knob. Standard cabinet screws are provided to fit most door and drawer thicknesses — check the specs against your cabinet construction before ordering.

The Skanderborg Knob suits bathroom vanities and cabinetry in moderate-humidity environments. Avoid prolonged direct water exposure; wipe dry if the wood surface gets wet.

The Skanderborg Knob comes in natural wood with brass accents — one finish combination. The natural variation in wood grain means each piece is slightly unique in tone and texture.
