The Object

Graintraced in light

The Shaft stretches a single beam of black walnut or ash across the room, two slender cables holding it in near-weightless balance. Integrated LED runs the full length beneath, the acrylic diffuser turning the source into one unbroken band of warmth. The wood grain catches the light along its own lines — quiet, specific, present.
Why you'll love it
  • Continuous LED band — no visible bulb breaks, just one clean line
  • Real wood body — black walnut or ash, each with its own grain
  • Three lengths — 120, 110, and 220 cm to fit the table below
  • 50,000-hour integrated LEDs — nothing to replace for years
  • Sloped-ceiling compatible · dimmable on request
Details

A standard hardwired ceiling install — most of it is switching off the power and matching three wires. Set your hanging height before you connect anything, and you're most of the way there.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — to a standard ceiling junction box
  • Power — hardwired to your mains supply
  • Dimming — socketed bulbs dim; integrated-LED models don't
  • Drop — arrives at 47" (1.2 m); want it shorter or longer? Just email us before it ships
  • Ceilings — flat, and most sloped (check the product specs)

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver, voltage tester, wire stripper
  • Wire nuts (included), ladder
  • Drill (only for a new junction box or non-standard ceiling)

Step by step

  1. Turn off the power — switch off the lighting circuit at the breaker, then confirm it's dead with a voltage tester.
  2. Mount the bracket — fasten the included bracket to the junction box, snug and level.
  3. Set your height — before wiring, adjust the cord, chain, or downrod to your drop and lock it at the canopy.
  4. Connect the wires — black to black, white to white, green or bare to ground. Secure each with a wire nut and tuck them into the box.
  5. Attach the fixture — line the canopy up with the bracket and fix it flush with the provided screws or caps.
  6. Add the bulbs — correct type and wattage; if dimming, check the bulbs match your wall dimmer.
  7. Power on and test.

Good to know

  • Follow your local electrical codes.
  • For high or angled ceilings, or anything complex, bring in a licensed electrician.
  • Don't over-tighten decorative parts; dust gently with a soft cloth.

On the grain

Wood that carries the lightalong its own lines

Light travels along the wooden body, picking out the grain as it goes. Black walnut reads darker — more defined, more architectural. Ash stays lighter, warmer, closer to the ceiling in tone. Both let the material do the talking, the LED a quiet underscore.

Innovative engineering · intelligent design
Three engineering choices that matter in daily use.
Clean line

A single horizontal bar — no visible seams, no dangling bulbs, just the form.

Real wood

Black walnut or ash, both chosen for grain that responds to light.

Even wash

The acrylic diffuser softens the LED into a continuous, glare-free band.

Material & craft

Woodwhere the light travels

Black walnut brings a deeper, richer tone to the grain, reading as architecture after dark. Ash stays closer to the ceiling — lighter, warmer, more diffuse. Either way, the LED picks out the texture as it goes, the wood doing what wood does: softening everything.

Design statement

A horizondrawn indoors

Most pendants hang a single point. The Shaft stretches the full length of what's below — a single wooden beam suspended in near-perfect balance, light running its entire underside. Lit or unlit, it reads as a deliberate mark across the room.

Frequently asked

It's a hardwired fixture — ceiling junction box and basic electrical work required. We recommend a certified electrician for the install; the hardware and instructions are included to make the process straightforward.

A solid wood beam — your choice of black walnut or ash — paired with an acrylic diffuser underneath and aluminium joining hardware for the 220 cm version. No composite fillers.

The two suspension cables adjust up to 2 m. Set the drop during installation to position the bar at the right height above your table or island — typically 70–80 cm above the surface.

Three built-in modes: warm white, neutral white, and cool white. Switch between them at the wall; no separate remote needed. All three are available across all three lengths.

Yes, on request. Let us know at checkout and we'll configure it for dimmer compatibility. Works with most standard leading-edge dimmers.

The integrated LEDs are rated at 50,000 hours — roughly 25 years at 6 hours a day. No bulbs to replace; the fixture runs clean for the long term.

Wide-range: 90–260V. It works on both North American and European/Australian circuits without any modification or adapter.

Yes. The cable drops up to 2 m from the canopy, and the sloped-ceiling bracket is compatible, so it hangs level even on raked or vaulted ceilings.

Yes — canopy, cables, and all hardware are included. The canopy plate is 10 cm diameter and fits a standard junction box. Professional installation is still recommended.

Absolutely. The 220 cm length in particular suits restaurant dining rooms, hotel lobbies, and open-plan offices. Certifications include UL, CE, FCC, and ROHS. Contact us for multi-unit pricing.
