The Object

Lit from aboveaimed with purpose

The Schist is an iron spotlight finished in gold — a single E27 socket on a rod that hangs cleanly from the ceiling and directs light exactly where you point it. The gold tone reads warm against white ceilings and warm walls alike. Choose from four drop lengths — 5, 30, 60, or 90 cm — to match the ceiling height and put the light at the right level for the space.
Why you'll love it
  • Adjustable light direction — point it where the room needs it
  • Gold iron finish — warm against any wall colour
  • Four drop lengths: 5, 30, 60, or 90 cm
  • Replaceable E27 LED included, 15W
  • Wide voltage range, 90–260V
Details

A close-to-ceiling install for low-clearance rooms — power off, mount the bracket, match the wires, done.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — direct to a standard ceiling junction box; sits close against the ceiling
  • Dimming — most socketed models dim; integrated-LED models don't
  • Ceilings — flat ceilings only; for vaulted or sloped ceilings, look at semi-flush or pendant options instead
  • Power — hardwired to your home's electrical system

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver, voltage tester, wire stripper
  • Wire nuts (included), ladder
  • Drill (only for a new junction box or non-standard ceiling)

Step by step

  1. Turn off the power — shut it off at the breaker panel and confirm with a voltage tester.
  2. Remove the fixture cover — twist or unclip the outer shade or base cover to expose the mounting plate and wiring.
  3. Install the mounting bracket — attach it to the ceiling junction box with the supplied screws, secure and level.
  4. Connect the wires — black to black, white to white, green or bare to ground. Secure each with a wire nut and tuck them into the junction box.
  5. Attach the fixture base — lift into place, align with the bracket, and secure with the provided screws so it sits flush against the ceiling.
  6. Reattach the cover — twist, clip, or fasten the decorative cover or diffuser back on.
  7. Restore power and test.

Good to know

  • Great for standard or low ceilings — hallways, bedrooms, closets.
  • Confirm your junction box can support the fixture's weight.
  • Follow local electrical codes.
  • When in doubt, bring in a licensed electrician.

Frequently asked

The Schist Ceiling Light ships free worldwide and typically arrives in 15–21 business days from the date your order is placed. You'll receive a tracking link once it dispatches.

Installation is DIY — the Schist mounts to a standard ceiling junction box via the rod and canopy. We recommend professional installation by a certified electrician for hardwired fixtures.

The Schist's socket can be angled to direct the beam toward your chosen target — a painting, a surface, or an architectural detail. The rod itself is fixed vertically; the angle adjustment is at the socket head.

The body is iron with a warm gold finish — durable and resistant to daily wear. The gold tone is matte rather than high-gloss, so it reads as understated in most interior settings.

The Schist works well in living rooms, dining areas, studies, galleries, and restaurants — anywhere a directed accent light adds value. It's for dry indoor use only; not rated for outdoor or damp environments.

The included E27 LED runs at 15W and outputs 1,500 lm — efficient for a spotlight of this output. LED technology keeps running costs low compared with halogen equivalents at the same brightness.

The Schist Ceiling Light is covered by Nava's 14-day return policy. If it arrives damaged or isn't right for the space, contact us within 14 days of delivery and we'll arrange a return or replacement.

The Schist is not dimmable as standard. If you need dimming, contact us before ordering — we may be able to configure a dimmable version on request depending on availability.

Wipe the iron body with a dry or lightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents — they can affect the gold finish. The E27 bulb is replaceable; switch off and allow to cool fully before handling.

No — the Schist is designed for dry indoor spaces only and carries no IP weather rating. For outdoor accent lighting, contact us and we'll point you toward a suitable alternative.
