The Object

Handmade tile by tilelight thrown in all directions

The Sandhamn Figurine starts as a styrofoam mushroom form and finishes as something else entirely: each mirrored glass tile is applied by hand, individually, so light hits a hundred different planes at once. Set it under a strong light source and coloured streaks scatter across every surface in the room. Put it on a revolving motor and the room moves with it. Three sizes; one-of-a-kind by definition.
Why you'll love it
  • Each mirrored tile applied individually by hand — no two alike
  • Reflects coloured light in all directions — red, yellow, green, blue
  • Motor-compatible — mount on any revolving motor for movement
  • Three sizes for different placements and light volumes
  • Styrofoam core, glass mirror surface — light and robust
Details

No wiring here — just unpack, place it somewhere stable, and power it on.

Before you begin

  • Placement — free-standing on stable surfaces like floors, side tables, desks, or patios; keep clear of high-traffic areas
  • Power — corded wall plug, built-in rechargeable battery, or solar panel, depending on the model
  • Indoor/outdoor — not all models are weather-resistant; confirm the rating before using outdoors
  • Dimming — some lamps include a built-in dimming switch or work with plug-in dimmers
  • Bulbs — if your lamp uses replaceable bulbs, always match the recommended type and wattage

What you'll need

  • Nothing required for most models
  • Optional: screwdriver (for battery cover or shade assembly), extension cord (for outdoor or distant outlets)

Step by step

  1. Unpack and inspect — check for damage or missing parts. If your model has a detachable shade or base, assemble per the included instructions.
  2. Choose a location — flat, stable surface where it won't be knocked over. For outdoor use, keep it dry and level, and away from water unless the lamp is explicitly water-resistant.
  3. Connect the power source — plug corded models into a nearby (weather-protected, if outdoors) outlet; insert batteries into the compartment for battery-powered models; position solar panels in direct sunlight for the initial charge.
  4. Install or check the bulb — screw it in gently and don't exceed the socket's max wattage. Integrated LED models skip this step.
  5. Turn on and adjust — use the switch, touch sensor, or remote to power it on, and adjust brightness or modes if your model supports it. Solar or motion-activated lamps may need a full charge cycle first.

Good to know

  • Follow the safety warnings printed on the lamp or in the manual.
  • Don't use indoor-only lamps outdoors.
  • Recharge or replace batteries as needed to keep performance up.
  • Clean solar panels periodically for better charging.
  • Unplug corded lamps during storms or long periods of disuse.

How it's made

Tile by tile, by handa hundred reflections built

The Sandhamn is assembled by hand, one mirrored glass tile at a time. Each tile is pressed flat against the styrofoam mushroom form and angled slightly differently from its neighbour — a process that means no two figurines reflect light identically. The result is unpredictable in the best way: scatter patterns change with every movement and every light source.

Innovative engineering · intelligent design
Three facts about how the Sandhamn creates its effect.
Hand-tiled

Every mirror tile placed by hand — a process that makes each piece unique.

Light scatter

Coloured streaks across the room when lit — pure movement and energy.

Motor ready

Mount it on any revolving motor and the scatter becomes continuous.

Frequently asked

The Sandhamn Figurine ships free worldwide and typically arrives within 15–21 business days. Because each piece is handmade, dispatch may take a few extra days during busy periods — we'll confirm timing when you order and send tracking once dispatched.

The Sandhamn requires no installation — simply place it on any flat surface or mount it on a revolving motor (sold separately). Position it below a light source for maximum scatter. No wiring, no tools, nothing to mount to the wall or ceiling.

Yes — every Sandhamn Figurine is assembled by hand, one mirrored glass tile at a time. The process is labour-intensive and intentionally so: it's what creates the irregular tile angles that produce unpredictable light scatter unique to each piece.

The Sandhamn is built on a styrofoam mushroom form and covered with individually applied mirrored glass tiles. Styrofoam keeps the piece light despite the number of tiles; glass mirror provides the reflective surface needed for scatter.

Each mirrored tile sits at a slightly different angle from its neighbours, so an incoming light beam hits multiple planes simultaneously. The result is coloured and white light scattered across the ceiling, walls, and floor — the effect varies with the light source's colour and position.

The Sandhamn is best suited to indoor use. Mirrored glass tiles and the styrofoam core can be affected by moisture and direct sun over time. Bring it inside after any outdoor event to preserve the mirrored surface and structural integrity.

Dust the Sandhamn gently with a soft dry brush or cloth, working tile by tile if needed. Avoid water or liquid cleaners on the mirrored glass surface. Handle gently — individual tiles are secured by hand and should not be subjected to impact or pressure.

Yes — the Sandhamn Figurine comes with a 1-year warranty against manufacturing defects. Nava Decor also offers free worldwide shipping and a 14-day return window if the piece isn't what you expected. Contact us within 14 days of delivery to arrange a return.

Store and display the Sandhamn away from moisture, direct sunlight, and heavy impact. When moving it, hold the base rather than the cap. The glass mirror tiles are individually attached; avoid placing it in environments where it may be knocked or handled roughly.

The Sandhamn is deliberately playful — it suits spaces where personality and movement are welcome: a studio, a children's room, a bar, a creative workspace, or anywhere you want an unexpected focal point. It works equally as a party decoration or a permanent accent piece.
