Hand-blown tinted glass for the shade and natural marble for the base. The two materials are as different as they can be — one translucent and fragile, one dense and opaque — and the contrast between them is the point.
Via the cord switch — a small toggle on the power cable between the base and the plug. The socket is concealed within the marble base, so there's no visible switch on the lamp itself.
The E26 LED supplied is rated at 50,000 hours. At four hours of daily use, that's over 34 years before the bulb reaches the end of its rated life. It's also replaceable — any standard E26 LED will fit.
