The Object

Solid brassa pattern cut in by hand

The Qaqortoq Knob is cast from solid brass and finished in a deep bronze tone, with a fine knurled line pattern cut across the body. The pattern isn't decoration — it adds grip and catches the light in the process, so the hardware reads differently under morning and evening light. Four pull bar lengths from 17.6 cm to 36.8 cm; knob and bars share the same knurled surface.
Why you'll love it
  • Solid brass — warm, weighty, and built to last decades
  • Knurled line pattern adds tactile grip and visual depth
  • Four pull bar lengths: 17.6, 20.8, 27.2, 36.8 cm
  • Deep bronze finish ages gracefully with use
  • Knob and pull bars share one consistent design language
Details

No wiring here — just careful measuring, drilling, and mounting. Mortice locks take a bit more patience than a simple knob.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — surface installation on doors, drawers, or cabinetry; check your product's dimensions for placement and drilling points

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver (Phillips and flathead), drill and drill bits, Allen key
  • Tape measure, pencil, level
  • Chisel (for mortice lock installation)
  • Screws and anchors, safety goggles

Step by step

  1. Cabinet hardware — mark drilling points — use a tape measure and pencil; a template helps for uniformity across multiple pieces.
  2. Cabinet hardware — drill holes — use a bit matched to the screw diameter, keeping the drill straight.
  3. Cabinet hardware — mount — insert screws from inside the cabinet or drawer, secure the hardware on the front face, and tighten without overtightening.
  4. Cabinet hardware — align and inspect — confirm straightness and spacing before fully securing.
  5. Thumb lock or dummy handle — confirm orientation — determine left- or right-hand door swing and adjust as needed.
  6. Thumb lock or dummy handle — mark installation height — typically 36–38 inches from the floor to the handle center; align the mounting plate.
  7. Thumb lock or dummy handle — drill and attach — drill pilot holes and secure the backplate and handle with the included screws. Dummy handles install directly, no latch mechanism.
  8. Thumb lock only — install the strike plate — mark the latch location on the door frame, chisel a recess if needed, and screw the strike plate in.
  9. Mortice lock — cut the mortice pocket — use a chisel and drill to create a cavity in the door edge, following the provided measurements.
  10. Mortice lock — insert the lock body — fit it into the cavity and attach through the faceplate with screws.
  11. Mortice lock — install the handle — align the spindle through the lock, attach handles on both sides, and tighten with a screwdriver or Allen key.
  12. Mortice lock — install the cylinder (if applicable) — insert the key cylinder and secure with the cylinder screw from the door edge.
  13. Mortice lock — mount the strike plate — align with the latch mechanism and secure to the door frame.

Good to know

  • Double-check measurements before drilling.
  • Use a level for consistent alignment across multiple units.
  • If you're unfamiliar with mortice installation, consult a locksmith or professional.
  • Make sure all moving parts operate smoothly before final tightening.
  • Dummy handles are decorative or pull-only — they don't engage latches or locks.

Cut and finished

Knurled brassgrip and light in one detail

The Qaqortoq's line pattern is cut into the brass body after casting, so it sits precisely across the curve of the knob and the length of the bar. The knurling is fine enough to be subtle — you feel it more than you see it at a distance. Bronze over solid brass means the finish deepens over time rather than dulling, building the quiet character that only real metal achieves.

Frequently asked

Yes — the Qaqortoq Knob's brass construction and bronze finish suit both contemporary kitchens and historically detailed interiors. The knurled pattern reads traditional and modern simultaneously.

The Qaqortoq Knob is cast from solid brass and finished in a deep bronze tone — a material that starts warm and rich, then develops additional character as it ages under daily use.

Solid brass is one of the most durable hardware materials available — the Qaqortoq Knob handles frequent opening and closing in kitchens and high-traffic areas without the finish degrading or the mount loosening.

Yes — the Qaqortoq Knob uses a standard screw-through mount. Mark the hole, drill to size, and fasten from inside the cabinet or drawer front. No specialist tools or skills required.

No — the Qaqortoq Knob's solid brass construction needs no sealing or polishing. Wipe occasionally with a dry cloth. The bronze finish deepens naturally with use rather than dulling.

The Qaqortoq Knob's knurled pattern adds real grip to both the round knob and the bar — useful with wet or oily hands in a kitchen, and noticeably more secure than a smooth cylinder.

Yes — the Qaqortoq Knob's bronze finish transitions between kitchen cabinetry and bedroom joinery without looking out of place in either. The scale is right for both.

The Qaqortoq Knob's line pattern is cut directly into the brass after casting — not stamped on the surface. That means it catches light differently at different angles, giving the hardware visual depth beyond its finish.

Yes — the Qaqortoq Knob comes with a 1-year warranty, extendable to 2, 3, or 5 years. Contact our team after purchase and we'll arrange the extended coverage.

Solid brass means the Qaqortoq Knob has consistent weight and density through the entire body — no hollow sections to flex, no plating to chip. It's the same material all the way through.
