Orbs caught between rodslight as sculpture

The Ostbirk Pendant Light arranges slender iron rods around a central axis with acrylic orbs at key points, so the form reads as a three-dimensional grid lit from within. The glow comes from the orbs — diffused and even, without a visible source. Hang it over a dining table or kitchen island where the form can be read from below. Integrated LED, adjustable cord to 1.8 m.
Why you'll love it
  • Acrylic orb accents glow — no visible bulb or source
  • Cylindrical iron rods form a graphic, three-dimensional structure
  • Even ambient light — no direct glare downward
  • Adjustable cord to 1.8 m — height to suit the room
  • Integrated LED · matte black iron finish
Details

A standard hardwired ceiling install — most of it is switching off the power and matching three wires. Set your hanging height before you connect anything, and you're most of the way there.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — to a standard ceiling junction box
  • Power — hardwired to your mains supply
  • Dimming — socketed bulbs dim; integrated-LED models don't
  • Drop — arrives at 47" (1.2 m); want it shorter or longer? Just email us before it ships
  • Ceilings — flat, and most sloped (check the product specs)

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver, voltage tester, wire stripper
  • Wire nuts (included), ladder
  • Drill (only for a new junction box or non-standard ceiling)

Step by step

  1. Turn off the power — switch off the lighting circuit at the breaker, then confirm it's dead with a voltage tester.
  2. Mount the bracket — fasten the included bracket to the junction box, snug and level.
  3. Set your height — before wiring, adjust the cord, chain, or downrod to your drop and lock it at the canopy.
  4. Connect the wires — black to black, white to white, green or bare to ground. Secure each with a wire nut and tuck them into the box.
  5. Attach the fixture — line the canopy up with the bracket and fix it flush with the provided screws or caps.
  6. Add the bulbs — correct type and wattage; if dimming, check the bulbs match your wall dimmer.
  7. Power on and test.

Good to know

  • Follow your local electrical codes.
  • For high or angled ceilings, or anything complex, bring in a licensed electrician.
  • Don't over-tighten decorative parts; dust gently with a soft cloth.

On the build

Rods hold the orbsstructure becomes light

The Ostbirk's engineering is its aesthetic: thin iron rods create the frame and the acrylic orbs are set within them, not appended. When unlit the pendant reads as a geometric object; when switched on the orbs take over and the rods become the background. The transition between off and on is the design talking.

Innovative engineering · intelligent design
Orb diffusion

Acrylic orbs spread light evenly — a glow without a hard source visible from below.

Sculptural frame

Iron rods form a three-dimensional grid that reads as art whether lit or not.

Height-adjustable

Cord adjusts to 1.8 m so the pendant sits at exactly the right level over the table.

Frequently asked

The Ostbirk is built from iron for the rod framework and canopy hardware, with acrylic orb elements that house the light source. Iron gives the structure its clean, matte finish; acrylic diffuses the LED without yellowing over time.

The Ostbirk uses an integrated LED rated to 50,000 hours. At 6W and 660 lm it's calibrated for ambient use rather than task lighting — a warm, even glow suited to dining and living areas.

There is no separate bulb — the LED is integrated into the fixture. The Ostbirk arrives ready to hardwire and switch on; nothing additional needs to be purchased for the light source.

The Ostbirk has an integrated LED with no external bulb base — the light source is sealed within the acrylic orb elements as part of the fixture design. It is not user-replaceable.

Over a dining table, kitchen island, or in a living area where the sculptural form can be appreciated from below. The 1.8 m adjustable cord suits rooms with standard to high ceilings.

The Ostbirk Pendant Light supports 90–260V — compatible with residential electrical systems across North America, Europe, the UK, Australia, and most other regions without an adapter.

The Ostbirk provides ambient light — the orbs glow evenly in all directions rather than directing a beam downward. It fills the room rather than spotlighting a surface, making it best paired with task lighting elsewhere if needed.

Yes — the cord adjusts up to 1.8 m from the ceiling plate. Excess cord coils inside the canopy. We recommend hanging the bottom of the pendant 70–80 cm above a dining table surface as a starting point.

Yes — the 1.8 m adjustable cord gives flexibility in rooms with high ceilings, while the graphic iron structure reads well at any drop height. Contact us if you need a longer custom cord length.

The Ostbirk runs at 6W for 660 lm of ambient output — efficient for a dining or living space pendant. The integrated LED avoids the energy waste of incandescent equivalents and lasts 50,000 hours without replacement.
