The Object

A spiral that glowsnot just hangs

The Oriel's aluminium body is shaped into an abstract spiral — so it reads as form first and light source second. The acrylic diffuser beneath it turns the integrated LED into a soft, even wash with no hotspots. Remote-controlled for dimming and colour mode, in small (50 cm) or large (80 cm), it hangs from a standard junction box on an adjustable cord to 1.5 m.
Why you'll love it
  • Abstract spiral aluminium form — reads as sculpture when unlit
  • Acrylic diffuser — soft, glare-free light across the room
  • Remote dims, changes mode, and controls power
  • Two sizes: D 50 cm or D 80 cm
  • 50,000-hour LED · cord adjustable to 1.5 m · sloped-ceiling compatible
Details

A standard hardwired ceiling install — most of it is switching off the power and matching three wires. Set your hanging height before you connect anything, and you're most of the way there.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — to a standard ceiling junction box
  • Power — hardwired to your mains supply
  • Dimming — socketed bulbs dim; integrated-LED models don't
  • Drop — arrives at 47" (1.2 m); want it shorter or longer? Just email us before it ships
  • Ceilings — flat, and most sloped (check the product specs)

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver, voltage tester, wire stripper
  • Wire nuts (included), ladder
  • Drill (only for a new junction box or non-standard ceiling)

Step by step

  1. Turn off the power — switch off the lighting circuit at the breaker, then confirm it's dead with a voltage tester.
  2. Mount the bracket — fasten the included bracket to the junction box, snug and level.
  3. Set your height — before wiring, adjust the cord, chain, or downrod to your drop and lock it at the canopy.
  4. Connect the wires — black to black, white to white, green or bare to ground. Secure each with a wire nut and tuck them into the box.
  5. Attach the fixture — line the canopy up with the bracket and fix it flush with the provided screws or caps.
  6. Add the bulbs — correct type and wattage; if dimming, check the bulbs match your wall dimmer.
  7. Power on and test.

Good to know

  • Follow your local electrical codes.
  • For high or angled ceilings, or anything complex, bring in a licensed electrician.
  • Don't over-tighten decorative parts; dust gently with a soft cloth.

On the form

Spiral aluminiumform that earns a second look

The Oriel's body is shaped from aluminium into a continuous abstract spiral — the same form that makes the chandelier interesting unlit makes it work well when on. The acrylic diffuser sits below the spiral, catching and spreading the light before it reaches the ceiling or the room below, so the glow is even whether you're looking up or across.

Innovative engineering · intelligent design
