Lantern formsolid copper around glass

The Opal Pendant Light is a compact lantern — a solid copper frame around glass panels, an E14 bulb inside, a warm glow contained rather than spread. Hang it in a bar corner, over a bedside, or above a restaurant table where a defined, warm light pool is what the space needs. Adjustable cord to 90 cm, black or gold finish, pipe-erected suspension.
Why you'll love it
  • Solid copper frame with glass panels — warm, contained glow
  • Compact lantern form — D18 x H40 cm, right for intimate spaces
  • Adjustable cord to 90 cm with pipe-erected suspension
  • Black or gold finish — two distinct moods, one form
  • Replaceable E14 LED bulb, wide voltage 90–260V
Details

A standard hardwired ceiling install — most of it is switching off the power and matching three wires. Set your hanging height before you connect anything, and you're most of the way there.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — to a standard ceiling junction box
  • Power — hardwired to your mains supply
  • Dimming — socketed bulbs dim; integrated-LED models don't
  • Drop — arrives at 47" (1.2 m); want it shorter or longer? Just email us before it ships
  • Ceilings — flat, and most sloped (check the product specs)

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver, voltage tester, wire stripper
  • Wire nuts (included), ladder
  • Drill (only for a new junction box or non-standard ceiling)

Step by step

  1. Turn off the power — switch off the lighting circuit at the breaker, then confirm it's dead with a voltage tester.
  2. Mount the bracket — fasten the included bracket to the junction box, snug and level.
  3. Set your height — before wiring, adjust the cord, chain, or downrod to your drop and lock it at the canopy.
  4. Connect the wires — black to black, white to white, green or bare to ground. Secure each with a wire nut and tuck them into the box.
  5. Attach the fixture — line the canopy up with the bracket and fix it flush with the provided screws or caps.
  6. Add the bulbs — correct type and wattage; if dimming, check the bulbs match your wall dimmer.
  7. Power on and test.

Good to know

  • Follow your local electrical codes.
  • For high or angled ceilings, or anything complex, bring in a licensed electrician.
  • Don't over-tighten decorative parts; dust gently with a soft cloth.

On the metal

Copper frameglass held in, warmth held in

The Opal's frame is solid copper — not a plated finish but the metal itself, which develops character with age. Glass panels sit within the frame rather than hanging off it, giving the lantern solidity. The pipe-erected cord and canopy reinforce the deliberate, considered quality of the suspension.

Innovative engineering · intelligent design
Three details behind how the Opal hangs and lights.
Copper frame

Solid copper construction that develops its own patina over time with daily exposure.

Warm pool

The lantern form contains the light — a defined, intimate glow rather than room-filling spread.

Two finishes

Black for a sharper, graphic effect; gold for warmth that reads with the copper body.

Frequently asked

The Opal Pendant Light is made from solid copper for the frame and clear glass for the panels. The copper is the structural and decorative element; the glass provides transparency while containing the light within the lantern form.

Yes. The Opal works in bar counters, restaurant settings, hotel corridors, and residential dining or bedroom spaces. Its compact lantern form and adjustable cord make it flexible across both environments.

Copper provides warmth and structural weight; glass provides transparency without dispersing the light too broadly. Together they create a lantern that reads as a solid object by day and a warm, self-contained light source by night.

Yes. The Opal's lantern silhouette and copper material suit heritage and period interiors well. The compact scale and warm glow work with exposed brick, dark timber, and traditional joinery without feeling anachronistic.

No — the Opal Pendant Light is a clean copper-and-glass lantern form without crystal additions. Its character comes from the material weight of the copper and the warmth of the contained light.

The Opal's compact lantern proportions and solid copper frame reference traditional gas and early electric lanterns. In a bar or dining room, a cluster of these at different heights creates the layered, warm atmosphere of a well-considered heritage interior.

The Opal is hardwired with a pipe-erected suspension — professional installation by a certified electrician is recommended. An E14 bulb is required and is not included; any standard E14 LED from most lighting or hardware retailers will fit.

The Opal uses a copper construction process that requires shaping and assembling the frame by hand. Each unit carries minor variation consistent with solid metal production rather than mass-stamped components.

The Opal's classic lantern form adapts well. In black it reads contemporary; in gold it suits warmer traditional spaces. The compact size means it can cluster over a bar, hang solo beside a bed, or light a restaurant table without overwhelming the surroundings.

The Opal's copper frame will develop a natural patina over time — a darkening and deepening of tone that many find adds character. If you prefer to slow this, wipe the frame occasionally with a dry cloth. Avoid chemical polishes that strip the surface.
