Grip that earnstouch by touch

The Muance Handle is machined from solid brass, weighted and balanced so the action feels deliberate — not stiff, not loose. The knurled grip adds real texture where your hand meets the metal, not just visual detail. Choose between a standard inside lock or an emergency-access version for bedrooms and bathrooms. Brass or black, left or right, fixed or lever.
Why you'll love it
  • Solid brass construction — heavy, precise, built for decades
  • Knurled grip for secure hold, wet or dry
  • Normal lock or emergency-access lock — choose what your door needs
  • Fits doors 35–55mm thick
  • Brass or black finish, right, left, or fixed versions
Details

No wiring here — just careful measuring, drilling, and mounting. Mortice locks take a bit more patience than a simple knob.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — surface installation on doors, drawers, or cabinetry; check your product's dimensions for placement and drilling points

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver (Phillips and flathead), drill and drill bits, Allen key
  • Tape measure, pencil, level
  • Chisel (for mortice lock installation)
  • Screws and anchors, safety goggles

Step by step

  1. Cabinet hardware — mark drilling points — use a tape measure and pencil; a template helps for uniformity across multiple pieces.
  2. Cabinet hardware — drill holes — use a bit matched to the screw diameter, keeping the drill straight.
  3. Cabinet hardware — mount — insert screws from inside the cabinet or drawer, secure the hardware on the front face, and tighten without overtightening.
  4. Cabinet hardware — align and inspect — confirm straightness and spacing before fully securing.
  5. Thumb lock or dummy handle — confirm orientation — determine left- or right-hand door swing and adjust as needed.
  6. Thumb lock or dummy handle — mark installation height — typically 36–38 inches from the floor to the handle center; align the mounting plate.
  7. Thumb lock or dummy handle — drill and attach — drill pilot holes and secure the backplate and handle with the included screws. Dummy handles install directly, no latch mechanism.
  8. Thumb lock only — install the strike plate — mark the latch location on the door frame, chisel a recess if needed, and screw the strike plate in.
  9. Mortice lock — cut the mortice pocket — use a chisel and drill to create a cavity in the door edge, following the provided measurements.
  10. Mortice lock — insert the lock body — fit it into the cavity and attach through the faceplate with screws.
  11. Mortice lock — install the handle — align the spindle through the lock, attach handles on both sides, and tighten with a screwdriver or Allen key.
  12. Mortice lock — install the cylinder (if applicable) — insert the key cylinder and secure with the cylinder screw from the door edge.
  13. Mortice lock — mount the strike plate — align with the latch mechanism and secure to the door frame.

Good to know

  • Double-check measurements before drilling.
  • Use a level for consistent alignment across multiple units.
  • If you're unfamiliar with mortice installation, consult a locksmith or professional.
  • Make sure all moving parts operate smoothly before final tightening.
  • Dummy handles are decorative or pull-only — they don't engage latches or locks.

The making

Machined brassknurled for grip, not looks

Each Muance Handle is cut from a solid brass billet on a CNC lathe, then hand-finished to remove tool marks and maintain dimensional accuracy. The knurling is machined in — not stamped or added on — so the texture is integral to the surface. The brass or black finish is applied after final inspection, then sealed for long-term durability.

Innovative engineering · intelligent design
Three things that make the Muance different.
Solid brass

No hollow sections, no plastic inserts — solid brass from grip to spindle.

Two lock types

Standard thumb lock for privacy, or emergency-access for added safety in bathrooms and bedrooms.

Universal fit

Fits doors 35–55mm thick — suitable for most interior residential and commercial door configurations.

Frequently asked

Solid brass throughout — the lever, the rosette, and the internal mechanism. No plastic components; finished in brass or black depending on the version selected.

The Muance Handle is available with a standard thumb lock (lockable from inside only) or an upgraded emergency-access lock (inside lock with outside emergency release).

The emergency-access version can be opened from outside with a coin or small tool inserted into the release slot — suitable for bathrooms and bedrooms where safety access may be needed.

Yes — the knurling is machined directly into the brass grip to add real traction, wet or dry. It is not decorative surface treatment; it improves hold under use.

The Muance Handle suits bedrooms, bathrooms, home offices, and boutique commercial spaces. It works on any interior door 35–55mm thick.

Yes — the Muance Handle includes all necessary screws, spindles, and mounting hardware for a standard interior door installation.

Yes — the emergency-access version uses a coin-slot release on the outside face. No key required; it is designed for quick, tool-light access in urgent situations.

Wipe the Muance Handle with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners. Solid brass develops a natural patina with use — this can be preserved or buffed back with brass polish if preferred.

Two finishes: polished brass and matte black. Both are applied after final machining and sealed for durability.

The Muance Handle is designed for doors 35–55mm thick — the standard range for most interior residential and light commercial doors. Contact us if your door falls outside this range.
