The Object

Tensionheld between two points

The Monsaraz runs a slim brass rod from floor to ceiling, tightened by a precision sleeve until the whole line sits taut and still. At its centre, an oval frame holds a ribbed glass cylinder that breaks the 2700K glow into soft vertical striations. Vintage brass, quietly engineered, made to occupy almost no floor space.
Why you'll love it
  • Floor-to-ceiling tension system — no visible mounting bracket
  • Adjustable sleeve dials in the exact height for your room
  • Ribbed glass softens the glow into vertical striations
  • Solid brushed brass construction, vintage brass finish
  • Warm 2700K light, minimal footprint
Details

A standard hardwired ceiling install — most of it is switching off the power and matching three wires. Set your hanging height before you connect anything, and you're most of the way there.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — to a standard ceiling junction box
  • Power — hardwired to your mains supply
  • Dimming — socketed bulbs dim; integrated-LED models don't
  • Drop — arrives at 47" (1.2 m); want it shorter or longer? Just email us before it ships
  • Ceilings — flat, and most sloped (check the product specs)

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver, voltage tester, wire stripper
  • Wire nuts (included), ladder
  • Drill (only for a new junction box or non-standard ceiling)

Step by step

  1. Turn off the power — switch off the lighting circuit at the breaker, then confirm it's dead with a voltage tester.
  2. Mount the bracket — fasten the included bracket to the junction box, snug and level.
  3. Set your height — before wiring, adjust the cord, chain, or downrod to your drop and lock it at the canopy.
  4. Connect the wires — black to black, white to white, green or bare to ground. Secure each with a wire nut and tuck them into the box.
  5. Attach the fixture — line the canopy up with the bracket and fix it flush with the provided screws or caps.
  6. Add the bulbs — correct type and wattage; if dimming, check the bulbs match your wall dimmer.
  7. Power on and test.

Good to know

  • Follow your local electrical codes.
  • For high or angled ceilings, or anything complex, bring in a licensed electrician.
  • Don't over-tighten decorative parts; dust gently with a soft cloth.

The mechanism

A sleevethat locks the tension in place

The Monsaraz's height is set by a precision-machined sleeve, tightened until the rod holds itself taut between floor and ceiling with no visible strain. The oval brass frame at its centre stays perfectly level once locked. It's a fixture that reads as engineered first, decorative second.

Innovative engineering · intelligent design
Three things worth knowing about the Monsaraz.
Zero footprint

The tensioned rod occupies a few inches of floor, freeing the room around it.

Precision height

An integrated sleeve tunes the tension to fit ceilings from 260 to 285 cm.

Soft striations

Ribbed glass breaks the LED glow into gentle vertical lines rather than a flat wash.

Design statement

A lineheld in tension, not fixed

The Monsaraz connects floor and ceiling with a single tensioned brass rod rather than a bracket or base. It gives the room proportion and calm — less an object placed in the space than a line drawn through it, holding its position by tension alone.

Frequently asked

The Monsaraz's brass rod is cut slightly longer than your ceiling height, then tightened with an integrated adjustment sleeve until it holds itself taut between floor and ceiling — no drilling into the ceiling required.

The rod adjusts across a 260 to 285 cm range to suit most standard ceilings. Measure your space before ordering so the sleeve has enough travel to lock in fully.

A single LED bulb sits behind ribbed glass, so the 2700K glow reads as soft vertical striations rather than one bright point — warm, ambient, and easy on the eyes at close range.

Yes — it ships with one E26 LED bulb installed, and it's a standard base, so a replacement is easy to find locally if you ever need one.

No, this fixture runs at a fixed 720-lumen output. If you need adjustable brightness, let the Nava team know and we can point you to a dimmable alternative.

Very little — the base is 16 cm in diameter, so it reads as a vertical line rather than a floor lamp. It suits tight corners, hallway ends, or spots a traditional lamp wouldn't fit.

No hardwiring — it plugs into a standard outlet with a corded wall plug, though we still recommend a careful, level installation given the floor-to-ceiling tension.

Stainless steel and glass, finished in vintage brass. The oval frame and rod are solid enough to hold the tension securely without flexing over time.

The sleeve distributes pressure evenly at each end and typically doesn't mark painted surfaces, though we recommend a felt or rubber pad underneath on delicate flooring.

The Monsaraz ships free worldwide, typically arriving within 15–21 business days. You'll get tracking details as soon as it leaves the warehouse.
