The Object

Stone and brassone thing you touch all day

The Mikladalur Knob pairs a natural stone face with a solid brass fitting — small, smooth, and satisfying to open. Two sizes suit shallow drawer pulls and deeper cupboard knobs; four stone colours from pink to green give you a material accent rather than a hardware afterthought. The brass resists tarnish and corrosion; the stone resists everyday wear. It works in kitchens, vanities, and sideboards without demanding attention.
Why you'll love it
  • Natural stone face — organic material, four colour options
  • Brass fitting — tarnish and corrosion-resistant
  • Two sizes: D 3.2 cm and D 6.8 cm — drawer or cupboard
  • Smooth grip, ergonomic form — comfortable for daily use
  • Works on cupboards, drawers, and cabinet doors
Details

Includes the solid-brass plate, toggle mechanism, and mounting hardware. A straightforward swap for an existing switch — power off, match the wires, screw the plate back on.

Step by step

  1. Turn off the power at your breaker or fuse box.
  2. Remove the old cover plate — unscrew it and set it aside.
  3. Take out the old switch — unscrew it from the box and ease it out to reach the wiring.
  4. Disconnect the wires — loosen the screws, or if back-inserted, cut and strip the ends.
  5. Wire the new toggle — live to the brass/black screw, neutral to silver (if your switch uses one), ground to the green screw. Tighten each.
  6. Secure the switch — tuck the wires back, align the toggle, fasten with the included screws.
  7. Fit the brass plate over the switch and screw it in.
  8. Power back on at the panel.
  9. Test — toggle up and down; the light or device should switch cleanly.

On the material

Stone surfacecool, smooth, quietly present

Natural stone has a temperature and a texture that no ceramic or resin substitute replicates. The Mikladalur uses real stone for the visible face — the part that sits proud of the drawer front and the part your fingers contact. Each knob varies slightly in colour and veining as the material does. The brass shank behind it provides the structural integrity the stone does not need to supply.

Frequently asked

Brass and natural stone. The brass forms the shank and fixing hardware; the natural stone makes the visible face of the knob. Together they provide durability below the surface and organic texture where you touch it.

Yes. The brass fitting is treated to resist tarnish and corrosion, making the Mikladalur Knob suitable for kitchens and bathrooms where humidity and cleaning products are common.

Standard cabinet knob installation — drill a pilot hole in the drawer or door front, insert the fixing screw from behind, and thread into the Mikladalur's brass shank. Basic tools and five minutes per knob.

Four stone colours — pink, grey, green, and blue — give the Mikladalur a broad range. The organic stone texture suits Scandinavian, mid-century, and contemporary cabinetry; the brass pairs naturally with warm metal fixtures.

Yes. The smooth stone face and rounded profile are sized for a comfortable grip — the small knob (3.2 cm) for light drawer pulls; the large (6.8 cm) for cupboard doors where a fuller hand hold is preferred.

Very. Natural stone is resistant to scratching and everyday surface wear; the brass fitting resists corrosion. The Mikladalur is built to outlast the furniture it's fitted to.

Minimal. Wipe the stone face with a damp cloth; dry the brass fitting after exposure to water. No sealing, polishing, or specialist products needed.

It adds material presence — the stone face gives kitchen and bathroom drawers a detail that paint and veneer can't replicate. Whether that reads as glamour or understated quality is up to the room around it.

The stone face is shaped and finished by hand; the brass fitting is precision-manufactured. Natural variation in the stone means no two Mikladalur knobs are identical.

Yes. The small size (3.2 cm) suits shallow drawer pulls best; the large (6.8 cm) works for cupboard and cabinet doors where you want a fuller grip. Both sizes use the same standard fixing hardware.
