The Object

Shellset into brass

The Marslev Knob is a solid brass knob with a shell inlay pressed into the face — pearl and abstract textures that catch light differently throughout the day. Four knob diameters from 22 to 37 mm, and two pull bar lengths for drawers that need a longer grip. Five finishes: white, grey, pink, green, or natural brass. A small thing touched dozens of times a day — the shell makes it worth noticing.
Why you'll love it
  • Shell inlay in pearl and abstract textures — catches light at every angle
  • Solid brass construction — weighted and built for daily use
  • Four knob sizes and two pull bar lengths available
  • Five finish options: white, grey, pink, green, brass
  • Suits kitchen cabinets, wardrobes, and dressing table drawers
Details

No wiring here — just careful measuring, drilling, and mounting. Mortice locks take a bit more patience than a simple knob.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — surface installation on doors, drawers, or cabinetry; check your product's dimensions for placement and drilling points

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver (Phillips and flathead), drill and drill bits, Allen key
  • Tape measure, pencil, level
  • Chisel (for mortice lock installation)
  • Screws and anchors, safety goggles

Step by step

  1. Cabinet hardware — mark drilling points — use a tape measure and pencil; a template helps for uniformity across multiple pieces.
  2. Cabinet hardware — drill holes — use a bit matched to the screw diameter, keeping the drill straight.
  3. Cabinet hardware — mount — insert screws from inside the cabinet or drawer, secure the hardware on the front face, and tighten without overtightening.
  4. Cabinet hardware — align and inspect — confirm straightness and spacing before fully securing.
  5. Thumb lock or dummy handle — confirm orientation — determine left- or right-hand door swing and adjust as needed.
  6. Thumb lock or dummy handle — mark installation height — typically 36–38 inches from the floor to the handle center; align the mounting plate.
  7. Thumb lock or dummy handle — drill and attach — drill pilot holes and secure the backplate and handle with the included screws. Dummy handles install directly, no latch mechanism.
  8. Thumb lock only — install the strike plate — mark the latch location on the door frame, chisel a recess if needed, and screw the strike plate in.
  9. Mortice lock — cut the mortice pocket — use a chisel and drill to create a cavity in the door edge, following the provided measurements.
  10. Mortice lock — insert the lock body — fit it into the cavity and attach through the faceplate with screws.
  11. Mortice lock — install the handle — align the spindle through the lock, attach handles on both sides, and tighten with a screwdriver or Allen key.
  12. Mortice lock — install the cylinder (if applicable) — insert the key cylinder and secure with the cylinder screw from the door edge.
  13. Mortice lock — mount the strike plate — align with the latch mechanism and secure to the door frame.

Good to know

  • Double-check measurements before drilling.
  • Use a level for consistent alignment across multiple units.
  • If you're unfamiliar with mortice installation, consult a locksmith or professional.
  • Make sure all moving parts operate smoothly before final tightening.
  • Dummy handles are decorative or pull-only — they don't engage latches or locks.

Cut and finished

Shell inlaypressed flush with brass

The inlay is set directly into the brass face so the surface is smooth to the touch — no raised edges, no gaps. Pearl and abstract-patterned shell varieties catch ambient light differently, so the knob reads as a considered detail rather than a functional component. At 22–37 mm diameter, the knob fits a finger and thumb naturally; the pull bar extends to 162 mm for wider drawers.

Yes — the shell inlay and five finish options make the Marslev adaptable from contemporary and Scandi interiors (white, grey) to warmer, more traditional spaces (brass, pink, green).

The Marslev is built from solid brass with no plastic components — it handles years of daily opening and closing without wearing. The shell inlay is set flush to protect it from chipping.

The Marslev pairs naturally with Scandinavian, contemporary, and transitional interiors. The five finish options let it read as clean and modern or warm and considered depending on the pairing.

Yes — both the knob and pull bar versions are designed for kitchen cabinet use. The brass construction handles the humidity and daily contact of a kitchen environment without degrading.

The Marslev Knob is available in white, grey, pink, green, and natural brass finishes — each with its own shell inlay character. Contact us if you'd like to see images of each before ordering.

The Marslev Knob is sized for a two-finger pinch grip at its narrowest (D 22 mm) and a full finger-and-thumb grip at its widest (D 37 mm). The pull bar offers a natural horizontal grip for wider drawers.
