Recessed flushcolour rendered exactly right

The Marl Downlight sits flush to the ceiling in die-cast aluminium — a small disc that disappears into the room while the light it gives becomes the room's presence. CRI above 90 means colours read as they should: fabric, food, and skin tone without the green or yellow cast of lower-rated sources. Sealed to IP52 for kitchens and bathrooms, rated past 80,000 hours.
Why you'll love it
  • CRI >90 — colours render accurately, not washed or shifted
  • IP52 moisture resistance — safe for kitchens and bathrooms
  • 80,000-hour integrated LED — a decade without maintenance
  • Die-cast aluminium with rapid heat dissipation
  • Three finishes: black, white, gold — sloped-ceiling compatible
Details

The install depends on your mount type — trimless, recessed, semi-recessed, surface, or track — so confirm which one you have before you start.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — trimless, recessed, semi-recessed, surface-mounted, or track-mounted; confirm the type in your product listing
  • Ceilings — most models suit drywall; some also work with concrete or drop ceilings, check the technical documentation
  • Dimming — many designs dim when paired with compatible drivers and wall dimmers
  • Power — hardwired, connects directly to a ceiling electrical junction
  • Trimless — may need professional finishing or flush-mount drywall work
  • Track — installs onto a compatible rail system; check your product's specification for track type

What you'll need

  • Drill, keyhole or drywall saw (for recessed or trimless)
  • Screwdriver, voltage tester, wire stripper
  • Wire nuts (included with most fixtures), screws and wall anchors (for surface mounting)
  • Level, measuring tape or pencil

Step by step

  1. Turn off the power — at the breaker panel, and confirm with a voltage tester.
  2. Prepare the ceiling opening (recessed and trimless only) — mark your opening with the provided template and cut carefully with a drywall saw or hole cutter. Trimless models need deeper space and extra setup for a seamless finish.
  3. Install the mounting hardware or fixture housing — recessed and trimless designs insert into the ceiling cavity and secure with spring clips or fasteners (trimless may need joist framing); semi-recessed fixtures partially install per the included instructions; surface-mounted downlights attach directly with screws and wall anchors; track fixtures need a compatible track system first, then lock into place.
  4. Connect the wiring — black to black, white to white, green or bare to ground. Secure each with a wire nut and tuck neatly back into the housing or box.
  5. Final assembly — trimless fixtures get mudded and feathered into the ceiling plane before painting; recessed, semi-recessed, and surface fixtures finish by twisting or snapping the trim or body into place; track lights get positioned and rotated along the rail after locking in.
  6. Restore power and test — use the wall switch or dimmer to verify proper operation.

Good to know

  • Professional installation is recommended for trimless or recessed downlights, especially with mudding or insulation involved.
  • Follow local electrical codes and regulations.
  • Use only compatible drivers and dimmers for your fixture.
  • Keep safe spacing from insulation in ceiling cavities to prevent overheating.

How it works

Heat gone fastlight stays accurate

The Marl uses a die-cast aluminium body as a heat sink, drawing warmth away from the LED source quickly so output stays consistent over its 80,000-hour rated life. The CRI >90 lens ensures that what's lit in the room reads true — not yellowed, not cooled, just accurate. IP52 sealing closes off moisture ingress at the housing perimeter.

Frequently asked

The Marl Downlight ships free worldwide and arrives in approximately 15–21 business days. You'll receive a tracking number once your order is dispatched.

The Marl Downlight is ceiling-recessed and hardwired. The process involves cutting a 9 cm hole, wiring the driver, and securing the housing — straightforward for a certified electrician, who we recommend for safe completion.

The Marl Downlight body is die-cast aluminium — rigid, thermally efficient, and resistant to warping over its long operating life. Available in black, gold, or white to suit different ceiling finishes.

The Marl Downlight uses its die-cast aluminium body as a passive heat sink. The metal draws thermal energy away from the LED driver rapidly, keeping operating temperature stable and extending the 80,000-hour rated life.

CRI measures how accurately a light source renders colour compared to natural daylight (maximum 100). The Marl Downlight's CRI of >90 means colours — fabric, food, skin — all read close to how they look in sunlight, with minimal distortion.

IP52 means the Marl Downlight is protected against dust ingress (level 5) and low-pressure water droplets (level 2) — making it safe to install in kitchens, bathrooms, and other moisture-prone interior spaces.

The Marl Downlight's integrated LED runs at 9–12W while producing 990–1320 lm — a fraction of the energy a comparable halogen downlight would use. Its 80,000-hour lifespan also means significantly less waste from bulb replacements.

The Marl Downlight is rated to 80,000 hours of operation. Running at eight hours per day, that's over 27 years before the LED output reaches end-of-life. The unit carries a 1-year warranty, extendable on request.

Yes — the Marl Downlight runs on 90–260V AC, covering standard electrical systems in North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and the Middle East without any modification or adaptor.

The Marl Downlight is fixed-direction — it illuminates straight down from the recessed housing. For directional or adjustable illumination, contact our team: tiltable configurations can be arranged on request.
