Solid copper — chosen for its strength, corrosion resistance, and the way it takes and holds a finish. Each hinge is milled from copper plate, not cast, which gives it consistent density throughout.
Yes — the Langaa is rated to support doors up to 50 kg. For heavier doors or commercial applications, use three hinges per door to distribute the load correctly.
Four: brass, black, grey, and gold. All four are applied over the copper base and sealed to resist fading and tarnish with normal indoor use.
Two sizes: L 7.6 x H 10.2 cm and L 7.6 x H 12.8 cm. The larger size suits heavier or taller doors — if in doubt, the bigger hinge gives more bearing surface and longer-term stability.
The Langaa uses a removable pin — you can lift the door off the frame without unscrewing the hinge leaves from either door or frame. Useful for fitting doors in tight spaces or for painting.
Plain bearings sit between the two knuckles, keeping friction low and movement smooth. They require no lubrication under normal use and are rated for hundreds of thousands of open-close cycles.
Yes — each hinge arrives pre-drilled with standard mortise hole patterns. Mark the position, chisel the mortise, and screw in place. We recommend professional installation for precision alignment on heavy doors.
Interior doors only. The Langaa is not rated for outdoor exposure — moisture and UV will affect the finish and bearing over time. For exterior applications, contact us for a rated alternative.
