Stone discwood sphere beneath

The Koudekerke Pendant hangs a circular travertine disc above a small spherical wood accent, the two materials sitting in contrast without competing. The integrated LED faces downward through the stone, casting a focused warm glow below — right on a table surface or a seating area. Natural travertine means every shade carries its own surface variation: the speckling and veining are the texture, and the texture is the point.
Why you'll love it
  • Travertine disc shade — naturally varied surface, no two pieces identical
  • Focused downward LED glow — warm light exactly where you need it
  • Wood sphere accent — earthy contrast to the stone's cool texture
  • Integrated LED, 28W at 3080lm — bright enough for dining and work surfaces
  • Adjustable drop to 1.5m, sloped-ceiling compatible — dimmable on request
Details

A standard hardwired ceiling install — most of it is switching off the power and matching three wires. Set your hanging height before you connect anything, and you're most of the way there.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — to a standard ceiling junction box
  • Power — hardwired to your mains supply
  • Dimming — socketed bulbs dim; integrated-LED models don't
  • Drop — arrives at 47" (1.2 m); want it shorter or longer? Just email us before it ships
  • Ceilings — flat, and most sloped (check the product specs)

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver, voltage tester, wire stripper
  • Wire nuts (included), ladder
  • Drill (only for a new junction box or non-standard ceiling)

Step by step

  1. Turn off the power — switch off the lighting circuit at the breaker, then confirm it's dead with a voltage tester.
  2. Mount the bracket — fasten the included bracket to the junction box, snug and level.
  3. Set your height — before wiring, adjust the cord, chain, or downrod to your drop and lock it at the canopy.
  4. Connect the wires — black to black, white to white, green or bare to ground. Secure each with a wire nut and tuck them into the box.
  5. Attach the fixture — line the canopy up with the bracket and fix it flush with the provided screws or caps.
  6. Add the bulbs — correct type and wattage; if dimming, check the bulbs match your wall dimmer.
  7. Power on and test.

Good to know

  • Follow your local electrical codes.
  • For high or angled ceilings, or anything complex, bring in a licensed electrician.
  • Don't over-tighten decorative parts; dust gently with a soft cloth.

On the stone

Travertineno two shades the same

Travertine is a sedimentary stone formed over thousands of years, and its surface carries that history in visible layers — subtle speckling, fine veining, variations in density that catch light differently from different angles. The Koudekerke's circular disc shade is cut from travertine slabs; the wood sphere below introduces a second texture that balances the stone's mineral quality with organic warmth.

Frequently asked

Travertine stone for the circular disc shade and natural wood for the spherical accent below the shade. Both are sourced and finished in their natural state — the beige and warm brown palette is inherent to the materials, not applied.

Focused downward light — the integrated LED is positioned to direct its output below the shade toward the surface beneath the pendant. At 28W and 3080lm, it's bright enough for dining tables and kitchen islands used for food preparation.

Over a dining table, kitchen island, or reading corner where focused downward light is wanted. The natural travertine and wood also suit living rooms and bedroom settings where a textural organic pendant fits the room's material palette.

Yes — travertine and wood are materials that read across contemporary, Japandi, Scandinavian, and transitional interiors. The combination of stone and wood is one of the most enduring material pairings in modern interior design.

The cord adjusts up to 1.5m from the ceiling canopy to the top of the fitting. This gives your installer flexibility to position the shade at the right height — typically 70–90cm above a dining table surface.

Yes — the LED is integrated into the fitting and not a separate replaceable bulb. Integrated LEDs are rated for 50,000+ hours; at typical household use rates, the light source will outlast the fixture's useful life without needing replacement.

Travertine is a sedimentary stone formed by mineral-rich spring water over thousands of years. The surface of every slab carries a distinct pattern of speckling, veining, and density variation — meaning no two Koudekerke shades have exactly the same surface texture.

It covers the bottom of the LED housing and acts as a diffuser for any light that exits below the main disc — softening the downward beam at its edges. It also provides a visual base that balances the travertine disc above.

The natural material palette suits industrial schemes that incorporate raw stone and unfinished wood — loft spaces, exposed brick interiors, and mixed-material kitchens. It pairs particularly well with metal shelving and concrete surfaces.

Yes — the cord adjusts up to 1.5m from the canopy. Your installer sets the final height during fitting. If you want to reposition it after initial installation, the electrician can re-set the cord drop without removing the fixture from the ceiling.
