Lever and lockbrass with a wood accent

The Kortgene pairs a polished brass lever with a wood-inspired finish on the grip — two materials working together rather than competing. The round rose keeps the wall plate minimal; the cylindrical handle fits the hand with a smooth, settled feel. The matching brass lock knob brings the set together. Silver or gold finish; mortice lock with keys included.
Why you'll love it
  • Brass lever with wood-accented grip — warm material contrast
  • Round rose — minimal wall footprint around the fitting
  • Cylindrical handle profile — comfortable smooth grip
  • Matching brass mortice lock knob
  • Two finishes: silver or gold · 650 g solid build
Details

No wiring here — just careful measuring, drilling, and mounting. Mortice locks take a bit more patience than a simple knob.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — surface installation on doors, drawers, or cabinetry; check your product's dimensions for placement and drilling points

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver (Phillips and flathead), drill and drill bits, Allen key
  • Tape measure, pencil, level
  • Chisel (for mortice lock installation)
  • Screws and anchors, safety goggles

Step by step

  1. Cabinet hardware — mark drilling points — use a tape measure and pencil; a template helps for uniformity across multiple pieces.
  2. Cabinet hardware — drill holes — use a bit matched to the screw diameter, keeping the drill straight.
  3. Cabinet hardware — mount — insert screws from inside the cabinet or drawer, secure the hardware on the front face, and tighten without overtightening.
  4. Cabinet hardware — align and inspect — confirm straightness and spacing before fully securing.
  5. Thumb lock or dummy handle — confirm orientation — determine left- or right-hand door swing and adjust as needed.
  6. Thumb lock or dummy handle — mark installation height — typically 36–38 inches from the floor to the handle center; align the mounting plate.
  7. Thumb lock or dummy handle — drill and attach — drill pilot holes and secure the backplate and handle with the included screws. Dummy handles install directly, no latch mechanism.
  8. Thumb lock only — install the strike plate — mark the latch location on the door frame, chisel a recess if needed, and screw the strike plate in.
  9. Mortice lock — cut the mortice pocket — use a chisel and drill to create a cavity in the door edge, following the provided measurements.
  10. Mortice lock — insert the lock body — fit it into the cavity and attach through the faceplate with screws.
  11. Mortice lock — install the handle — align the spindle through the lock, attach handles on both sides, and tighten with a screwdriver or Allen key.
  12. Mortice lock — install the cylinder (if applicable) — insert the key cylinder and secure with the cylinder screw from the door edge.
  13. Mortice lock — mount the strike plate — align with the latch mechanism and secure to the door frame.

Good to know

  • Double-check measurements before drilling.
  • Use a level for consistent alignment across multiple units.
  • If you're unfamiliar with mortice installation, consult a locksmith or professional.
  • Make sure all moving parts operate smoothly before final tightening.
  • Dummy handles are decorative or pull-only — they don't engage latches or locks.

On the build

Round rosebrass lever sits close to the door

The round rose is sized to cover the latch mechanism without imposing on the door face — the lever extends directly from it with no ornamental gap. The cylindrical grip carries the wood-tone accent on the central section, where the hand naturally rests. The mortice lock knob is finished to match, keeping the escutcheon and the handle reading as one piece.

Frequently asked

Solid brass throughout — lever, rose, and lock knob. The wood-accented finish on the grip section is a surface treatment applied to the brass cylinder rather than a separate material insert.

Two: silver and gold. Silver reads cleaner and cooler; gold is warmer and picks up the wood-tone accent more naturally. Both carry through to the lock knob for a matched set.

Mortice lock with keys — the lock mechanism fits into the door body and includes two keys. Suitable for bedroom, bathroom, and entrance doors requiring keyed security.

The combination of polished brass with a wood-inspired finish on the cylindrical grip — two tones in one lever, without a join or a separate component. The round rose also keeps the wall plate genuinely minimal.

Yes — the cylindrical lever and round rose are contemporary forms; the brass-and-wood contrast adds warmth that prevents it reading as cold or clinical. Suits transitional and contemporary interiors well.

The brass finish is applied to resist everyday tarnish under indoor conditions. Normal cleaning with a dry cloth is sufficient to maintain the finish; no specialist polishing required.

Smooth cylindrical — the grip sits in the palm rather than between the fingers. At 650 g the lever has enough weight to feel solid without requiring force to turn.

Yes — the brass-encased knob turns smoothly to engage and disengage the mortice bolt. The mechanism is designed for daily use without requiring force or a precise technique.

The specification lists it for door use generally — the mortice lock provides keyed security appropriate for an entrance. We recommend confirming suitability for your specific exterior door type before installation.

The lever mounts on a standard round rose with included hardware. The mortice lock requires a door body cutout — we recommend a qualified carpenter or joiner for the lock installation specifically.
