The Object

Acrylic twistedbrass holds it at each end

The Hvalba Pull Bar takes a length of transparent acrylic and twists it along its axis — the spiral catches the light at every angle, so the bar reads differently depending on where you stand. Brass fittings at each end secure it to the cabinet face. The transparent acrylic blends into any colour behind it — timber, painted MDF, or lacquered cabinetry. Five hole spacings from 9.6 cm to 32 cm; brass, chrome, or clear finish.
Why you'll love it
  • Twisted acrylic spiral catches and refracts light at every angle
  • Transparent body sits quietly against any cabinet colour
  • Brass and chrome end fittings — durable under daily grip
  • Five lengths, hole spacings 9.6 cm to 32 cm
  • Suits cupboards, cabinets, drawers, and wardrobes
Details

No wiring here — just careful measuring, drilling, and mounting. Mortice locks take a bit more patience than a simple knob.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — surface installation on doors, drawers, or cabinetry; check your product's dimensions for placement and drilling points

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver (Phillips and flathead), drill and drill bits, Allen key
  • Tape measure, pencil, level
  • Chisel (for mortice lock installation)
  • Screws and anchors, safety goggles

Step by step

  1. Cabinet hardware — mark drilling points — use a tape measure and pencil; a template helps for uniformity across multiple pieces.
  2. Cabinet hardware — drill holes — use a bit matched to the screw diameter, keeping the drill straight.
  3. Cabinet hardware — mount — insert screws from inside the cabinet or drawer, secure the hardware on the front face, and tighten without overtightening.
  4. Cabinet hardware — align and inspect — confirm straightness and spacing before fully securing.
  5. Thumb lock or dummy handle — confirm orientation — determine left- or right-hand door swing and adjust as needed.
  6. Thumb lock or dummy handle — mark installation height — typically 36–38 inches from the floor to the handle center; align the mounting plate.
  7. Thumb lock or dummy handle — drill and attach — drill pilot holes and secure the backplate and handle with the included screws. Dummy handles install directly, no latch mechanism.
  8. Thumb lock only — install the strike plate — mark the latch location on the door frame, chisel a recess if needed, and screw the strike plate in.
  9. Mortice lock — cut the mortice pocket — use a chisel and drill to create a cavity in the door edge, following the provided measurements.
  10. Mortice lock — insert the lock body — fit it into the cavity and attach through the faceplate with screws.
  11. Mortice lock — install the handle — align the spindle through the lock, attach handles on both sides, and tighten with a screwdriver or Allen key.
  12. Mortice lock — install the cylinder (if applicable) — insert the key cylinder and secure with the cylinder screw from the door edge.
  13. Mortice lock — mount the strike plate — align with the latch mechanism and secure to the door frame.

Good to know

  • Double-check measurements before drilling.
  • Use a level for consistent alignment across multiple units.
  • If you're unfamiliar with mortice installation, consult a locksmith or professional.
  • Make sure all moving parts operate smoothly before final tightening.
  • Dummy handles are decorative or pull-only — they don't engage latches or locks.

Cut and finished

Acrylic twisted under heatthe spiral is structural

The twist in the Hvalba's body is formed by heating the acrylic rod and rotating it before setting — a process that creates the spiral as a permanent structural feature rather than a surface pattern. The result is a bar that is rigid and uniform in cross-section but visually dynamic from any viewing angle. Brass and chrome fittings are mechanically fixed at each end, not adhesive-bonded.

Innovative engineering · intelligent design
Three things that make the Hvalba a practical choice as well as a visual one.
Twisted body

The spiral is structural — formed in the acrylic itself, not a surface texture that can wear.

Universal colour

Transparent acrylic shows the cabinet behind it — invisible colour, full visual character.

Five lengths

Hole spacings from 9.6 cm to 32 cm — covers standard cabinet, drawer, and wardrobe widths.

Frequently asked

Acrylic is more scratch-prone than metal. For areas with very heavy daily contact, wipe with a soft cloth — avoid abrasive cleaners or rough sponges that can mark the surface.

Mark and drill holes to the specified centre spacing, pass the included screws through from inside the cabinet, and thread them into the brass end fittings. No specialist tools required.

We accept returns within 14 days of delivery. Items must be in original, undamaged condition and packaging. Contact our team to start the process.

Yes — brass and chrome fittings are built for daily use, and the acrylic body is rigid. For very high-frequency use (commercial kitchens, retail fixtures), the all-metal options in our range may suit better.

The brass fittings are finished to resist tarnishing under normal indoor conditions. Wipe occasionally with a dry cloth to maintain the polish.

Yes — screws for standard cabinet door thickness are included. Contact us if your doors are non-standard thickness and we'll advise on the right screw length.

The Hvalba ships free worldwide and typically arrives in 15–21 business days from dispatch.

Yes — 1-year Nava warranty as standard, extendable to 2, 3, or 5 years. Contact us after purchase to upgrade your coverage.

Wipe the acrylic body with a soft damp cloth. Clean the brass fittings with a dry cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners on either material.

Yes — the transparent body adapts to the cabinet colour behind it, and the twisted form reads as both modern and classically sculptural. Brass finish suits warm traditional cabinetry; chrome suits contemporary.
