The Object

Knurledbecause grip is the point

The Husby is a cylindrical brass pull with a knurled surface — the texture is there for grip, not decoration, though it does both. In brass, bronze, or black, it suits contemporary kitchens and fitted joinery where the hardware should feel considered without drawing attention to itself. The cylindrical form fits the hand as a knob or as a bar pull, in five sizes.
Why you'll love it
  • Knurled texture gives secure grip even with wet hands
  • Solid brass — dense, warm, and built for heavy daily use
  • Cylindrical form works as knob, T-knob, or bar pull
  • Three finishes: brass, bronze, black — cohesive across a room
  • Five sizes to cover knobs through to 21.4 cm bar pulls
Details

No wiring here — just careful measuring, drilling, and mounting. Mortice locks take a bit more patience than a simple knob.

Before you begin

  • Mounting — surface installation on doors, drawers, or cabinetry; check your product's dimensions for placement and drilling points

What you'll need

  • Screwdriver (Phillips and flathead), drill and drill bits, Allen key
  • Tape measure, pencil, level
  • Chisel (for mortice lock installation)
  • Screws and anchors, safety goggles

Step by step

  1. Cabinet hardware — mark drilling points — use a tape measure and pencil; a template helps for uniformity across multiple pieces.
  2. Cabinet hardware — drill holes — use a bit matched to the screw diameter, keeping the drill straight.
  3. Cabinet hardware — mount — insert screws from inside the cabinet or drawer, secure the hardware on the front face, and tighten without overtightening.
  4. Cabinet hardware — align and inspect — confirm straightness and spacing before fully securing.
  5. Thumb lock or dummy handle — confirm orientation — determine left- or right-hand door swing and adjust as needed.
  6. Thumb lock or dummy handle — mark installation height — typically 36–38 inches from the floor to the handle center; align the mounting plate.
  7. Thumb lock or dummy handle — drill and attach — drill pilot holes and secure the backplate and handle with the included screws. Dummy handles install directly, no latch mechanism.
  8. Thumb lock only — install the strike plate — mark the latch location on the door frame, chisel a recess if needed, and screw the strike plate in.
  9. Mortice lock — cut the mortice pocket — use a chisel and drill to create a cavity in the door edge, following the provided measurements.
  10. Mortice lock — insert the lock body — fit it into the cavity and attach through the faceplate with screws.
  11. Mortice lock — install the handle — align the spindle through the lock, attach handles on both sides, and tighten with a screwdriver or Allen key.
  12. Mortice lock — install the cylinder (if applicable) — insert the key cylinder and secure with the cylinder screw from the door edge.
  13. Mortice lock — mount the strike plate — align with the latch mechanism and secure to the door frame.

Good to know

  • Double-check measurements before drilling.
  • Use a level for consistent alignment across multiple units.
  • If you're unfamiliar with mortice installation, consult a locksmith or professional.
  • Make sure all moving parts operate smoothly before final tightening.
  • Dummy handles are decorative or pull-only — they don't engage latches or locks.

Cut and finished

Knurled cylindertexture you feel, not just see

The knurling runs the full grip length of the cylinder — a precision-cut pattern that adds traction in every direction. On a brass finish the texture catches light and adds visual depth; on black it reads as a subtle industrial detail. The cylindrical form is the same whether it's a knob or a 21 cm bar — a coherent family across the room.

Wipe with a soft dry cloth. Avoid acidic or abrasive cleaners. The brass and bronze finishes may develop a light patina over time — this is natural and part of the material.
