Solid brass throughout — body, pin, and striker plate. Brass is chosen for its density and resistance to corrosion; it holds its finish under everyday foot traffic and floor cleaning.
A magnetic pin sits recessed in the floor plate. When the door swings over it, the striker plate on the door base creates a magnetic field that raises the pin just enough to catch and hold the door. Swing the door closed and the pin drops back down automatically.
Yes — floor-mounted with the included hardware. Mark the position, drill or screw into the floor surface (wood, tile, or concrete with appropriate fixings), and mount the striker on the door base. Takes about 15 minutes with standard tools.
